I cannot express enough gratitude for the incredible help Kevin Murphy and Alynn provided. He went above and beyond, taking so much time out of his busy day to offer me the assistance I needed. His patience, kindness, and willingness to go the extra mile truly made a difference. Kevin’s dedication and energy were clear throughout, and I feel so fortunate to have had his help. Thank you, Kevin, for being so generous with your time!

I am a CPA and I hired Kevin Murphy and his team to assist me with a California Board of Accountancy investigation matter. As you can imagine, when you get an investigation notice, it's easy to lose hope and fall into depression. You start thinking that your license, ability to practice, and livelihood are at stake. I have spent countless sleepless nights filled with fear and anxiety, stressing that I won't be able to provide for my family and that my reputation will be ruined. I was fortunate to be referred to Kevin and his team. Kevin is a fighter, and you want to have a fighter in your corner when you have a serious matter that could jeopardize your license and ability to provide for your family. In addition, he possess an outstanding EQ, is extremely well spoken, is sharp, and very energetic. He inspires you to fight for yourself, your license, and your livelihood. You have no excuse when you see him and his team fighting so hard for you. From the first meeting with Kevin, I knew I was in the right hands. Kevin was able to lift my spirits, explain the exposure, and describe clearly the investigative process. He and his team prepared a masterful strategy to defend me and my license. At the onset of the matter, we defined the optimistic, likely, and pessimistic case scenario. Thanks to the hard work of Kevin, and this team members Kim and Alyn, we were able to beat the optimistic case! They literally delivered the best possible outcome, which I didn't think was even possible! I went from being in fear, full of anxiety, and starting to regret becoming a CPA to becoming a confident and happy professional again. I am so grateful to have met Kevin. To say that Kevin and his team exceeded my expectations is an understatement. They smashed through any expectations I had and exceeded them 1,000x. Kevin, Kim, and Alyn are the best team. I would recommend them to my friends, family, and any other CPA or professional facing a challenge to their professional license.

I first consulted with Kevin in 2018 when I was suspended from my job as a nurse and reported to the BRN. From the first meeting, it was clear that Kevin is extremely knoweldgeable and skilled at what he does. He expertly advised me on what would happen next and steps that I could take to be proactive in helping my case. Kevin fought hard and advocated for me at every turn. Throughout my BRN case he kept me informed and prepared me so well for each meeting or hearing. With Kevin's help I was able to have minimal probation requirements and keep my recovery cost low. This was hugely helpful financially and logistically- as BRN probation requirements can be very time consuming and costly. Most importantly Kevin reached out to let me know that I was eligible to apply for early termination and again fought so hard on my behalf. My license was restored early and I am so grateful to Kevin and his team for helping me to be supported and informed during the process and get my life and career back to normal as soon as possible. If you're facing licensing issues or probation- you may hear that you can navigate the process without representation but I DO NOT recommend this. You need a lawyer who truly knows all the ins and outs of the process and when and what to advocate for. Kevin is the best there is. I also have to acknowledge that his entire staff is super responsive and efficient. With Kevin and his team you get great representation but you also get a genuinely caring team and approach as well. Cannot recommend them enough!!

Mr. Murphy was able to secure a Reproval letter with no license limitations and no probation. The State Board just wants to get reimbursed for investigating charges, at a lower cost. My license was protected. I still have continuing education units to submit as usual. The Pharmacy took responsibility of the error.

Kevin & his associates are incredible in their knowledge, drive, and desire to get their clients the best possible outcomes. I was faced with a tough scenario involving the board of nursing. I was scared and felt hopeless to my situation. From our initial consult, Kevin spoke with the utmost confidence and charisma that I knew I had to hire him. He was extremely knowledgeable in areas where other lawyers just made assumptions. I felt comfortable because he had dealt with these situations many times and his tone of voice was reassuring to me. I had some civil issues that the board had to address. Kevin gave me a complete rundown of what to do, how to prepare, and what steps to take to have a great defense to save my RN license. I was in constant communication with him and his team. I ended up having my case closed completely without any harm to my nursing license or career. I believe this is only possible because of Kevin’s direction and requests. There are very few attorneys who excel in this particular area and Kevin is one of them. I am incredibly thankful to Kevin and his team and cannot begin to express how good I felt with them. I am in an amazing position today because of their lead and direction. I would highly recommend their services to anyone seeking legal representation to protect their professional license.

My wife of 25 years filed a restraining order against me. I am in my seventies, a retired surgeon, and have never had this kind of legal issue. Ms. Keegan did not start by evaluating my ability to pay but instead listened, clearly comprehended my situation, and agreed to take my case. She is a Jurist with the added outstanding qualities of organization, problem-solving, laser focus, attention, and retention of details, and she responds and adapts to changing circumstances with composure. Her patience elevates her to the highest levels of professionalism, coupled with her analysis, writing, and persuasion skills, will give you great comfort that you are represented by the best.

I was referred to Anna by a friend. I needed some legal forms written up and gone over with me. I was also in somewhat of a hurry. Anna was very thorough in explaining everything to me and she was extremely hardworking. She had the forms ready for me in half the time the other attorneys said it would take. She was also very knowledgable in the matter at hand which made me feel safe and protected. I am very thankful for Anna and if you need legal help she is the best.

I needed a few things taken care of legally and I really didn't know where to start. Anna was so knowledgable about exactly what I needed to do and how she could help me. I was calling her with questions all the time and she was always so helpful and kept telling me to call her if I had any other questions! I recommend Anna to all my friends and family anytime someone needs legal advice as she is the best attorney I have come across.

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of San Diego, California?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
