When it comes to being the best, one name comes to mind... Joe Seipel! He came in like Atlas himself and took the weight I was caring and carried it with me. He is an exceptional attorney. He not only excels in his profession but is compassionate, sympathetic and cares about the people he represents, no matter the degree of case. He walks you through every step and communicates effectively what is required of you. Never felt judged or as if I was a burden. I could not have asked for a better defense. Because of him I can now look to a future free of worry and fear of putting my life on hold. I am optimistic for life ahead and the dreams I can now make a reality. Thank you Joe Seipel, for everything.

Mr. Seipel effectively managed a complex restraining order case for me & successfully prevented false criminal charges despite multiple unfounded allegations toward me. His effective communication with the City Attorney & skilled court performance were crucial to achieving a positive outcome. I am grateful that I hired an experienced attorney because if not, I would for sure be battling a false criminal case now which would have negative consequences for my life. Mr. Seipel’s professionalism & expertise were evident throughout the legal matter. I am very satisfied with his services & the outcome of my case. I highly recommend Mr. Seipel for his exceptional legal representation. I hope Mr. Seipel continues to have success in his profession & a happy life.

Joseph represented me in a personal injury case after I swallowed broken glass that was served to me in a drink at a well known restaurant chain. Joseph was a great communicator, acted quickly, and we reached an acceptable settlement with the restaurant. While I hope I'll not have another personal injury case in the near future, if I do, my first call will be to Joseph. He was a pleasure to work with, and I highly recommend him.

To Whom it may concern, I Brian Michael Stankowitz with the USN NAVY; on June 12th 2024 had a DUI case with Joe Seipel, who works with Blair Defense. I had a lot of issues going to the court case and Joe Seipel was like you don't even need to be there! I was like whoa. He asked me to compile a bunch of documentation and some contact information, etc.... Character Witness type stuff. I had difficulties getting in-touch with them due to my situation but they constantly worked with me. The front desk was a big help! And they always answer the phone. Joe walked me through what information he needed for the case and informed me of what was to come. After a few months we had a re-case and the case was dismissed/terminated. I can not state how amazing Joe Seipel is. The man is a legend and has my A+++++ confidence. If I ever get in anymore trouble these are the guys I'm calling. So worth every penny! Very Respectfully, Brian Michael Stankowitz

I had the privilege of working with Joe to expunge my "wet and wreck less driving" charge from my record. From the outset, Joe instilled confidence in me that we could achieve a positive outcome. His professionalism and dedication were evident throughout the entire process. Joe not only fulfilled every promise he made but also went above and beyond to ensure my peace of mind. His ability to navigate the legal complexities and keep me informed was truly commendable. I felt supported and reassured, knowing that Joe was committed to getting the job done. I wholeheartedly recommend Joe to anyone facing a similar situation. His expertise, reliability, and genuine care for his clients set him apart.

My wife of 25 years filed a restraining order against me. I am in my seventies, a retired surgeon, and have never had this kind of legal issue. Ms. Keegan did not start by evaluating my ability to pay but instead listened, clearly comprehended my situation, and agreed to take my case. She is a Jurist with the added outstanding qualities of organization, problem-solving, laser focus, attention, and retention of details, and she responds and adapts to changing circumstances with composure. Her patience elevates her to the highest levels of professionalism, coupled with her analysis, writing, and persuasion skills, will give you great comfort that you are represented by the best.

I was referred to Anna by a friend. I needed some legal forms written up and gone over with me. I was also in somewhat of a hurry. Anna was very thorough in explaining everything to me and she was extremely hardworking. She had the forms ready for me in half the time the other attorneys said it would take. She was also very knowledgable in the matter at hand which made me feel safe and protected. I am very thankful for Anna and if you need legal help she is the best.

I needed a few things taken care of legally and I really didn't know where to start. Anna was so knowledgable about exactly what I needed to do and how she could help me. I was calling her with questions all the time and she was always so helpful and kept telling me to call her if I had any other questions! I recommend Anna to all my friends and family anytime someone needs legal advice as she is the best attorney I have come across.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of San Diego, California?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
