I am incredibly grateful for the exceptional legal representation provided by Ms. Freeze in my case. From the very beginning, she demonstrated a deep understanding of the legal system and a genuine commitment to my well-being. Ms. Freeze not only helped me navigate the complexities of my case but also suggested anger management and family therapy, which were instrumental in my personal growth and healing. Thanks to her expert guidance, my case was dismissed, and my arrest records were sealed a year later, giving me a fresh start. I highly recommend Ms. Freeze to anyone in need of a compassionate, knowledgeable, and dedicated criminal defense attorney. She truly went above and beyond, despite handling multiple cases, to ensure the best possible outcome for me and my family.

My wonderful generational family found themselves in a tragic situation that was so unexpected. Alicia guided us through every step and supported us the entire time. Alicia is diligent and resourceful and committed to a successful outcome due to her experience and passion for what she does. We are so thankful to have an attorney with such clarity, knowledge, and support for the truth.

I had been in law enforcement for thirty-five years before retiring in 2014 and have owned a New Jersey Private investigation firm since 2016. Early this Spring, I needed to find a California Private Investigator in order to assist me in conducting a multi jurisdictional investigation. I received multiple recommendations from my colleagues in New Jersey that John Munoz owner of Trusted Eye Investigations was the go to investigator in Southern California. Following the advice I was given I reached out to John and immediately could tell he was a cut above many investigators I had ever worked with Over our three month investigation found John was professional, knowledgeable in investigations as well as being able to think outside the box. John is determined to do a good job and never seems to get tired. I suggest if your in need of a private investigator, at minimum you should give John a look, you are gonna like what you see.

Last November Alicia was placed in our lives by another attorney That we had only had a brief conversation with. We flew in from Mississippi because we had just learned our son who lives in San Diego was being accused of murder. We were shocked and scared and didn’t know what to do. She immediately , along with co counsel Ted Burgess went to work! Lots of tears and hand holding happened and she became like a second mom to our son and fought with everything she had to get the best result possible. After 9 long months, many hearings and eventually a pre trail, we got the words from the judge we prayed for! Charges are Dismissed and he was free to go!!! We can never think her and Ted for all they did. They will forever be apart of our family. I can’t stress enough the miracle they pulled off!! The truth was on our side and they made dang sure everyone knew it!!! Highly Recommend! Best Criminal defense attorney!!

My brother was faced with murder in the first degree, and Alicia alongside co-council Ted Burgess fought and found justice for my brother when in fact it was not a murder case at all. Alicia was able to provide that the truth will in fact set you free and that was the case for my brother. As a little sister, seeing my best friend and sibling be wrongfully charged in a state so far away is one of the worst feelings. Alicia worked relentlessly since November of 2023 to provide justice for him. I am so thankful for Alicia as well as Burgess for their work and that my brother can be free again. He can watch me grow up and that’s all that I have ever wanted. Alicia is one of the kindest but smartest women I have met, who is quick on her feet to which is one of the most important qualities when it comes to such intricate cases such as this one. I will never be able to thank her enough for everything she did for my family and I. 100% highly recommend Alicia Freeze for anything you need!!

My wife of 25 years filed a restraining order against me. I am in my seventies, a retired surgeon, and have never had this kind of legal issue. Ms. Keegan did not start by evaluating my ability to pay but instead listened, clearly comprehended my situation, and agreed to take my case. She is a Jurist with the added outstanding qualities of organization, problem-solving, laser focus, attention, and retention of details, and she responds and adapts to changing circumstances with composure. Her patience elevates her to the highest levels of professionalism, coupled with her analysis, writing, and persuasion skills, will give you great comfort that you are represented by the best.

I was referred to Anna by a friend. I needed some legal forms written up and gone over with me. I was also in somewhat of a hurry. Anna was very thorough in explaining everything to me and she was extremely hardworking. She had the forms ready for me in half the time the other attorneys said it would take. She was also very knowledgable in the matter at hand which made me feel safe and protected. I am very thankful for Anna and if you need legal help she is the best.

I needed a few things taken care of legally and I really didn't know where to start. Anna was so knowledgable about exactly what I needed to do and how she could help me. I was calling her with questions all the time and she was always so helpful and kept telling me to call her if I had any other questions! I recommend Anna to all my friends and family anytime someone needs legal advice as she is the best attorney I have come across.

  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. Who will be handling my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of San Diego, California?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
