Upon facing a great deal of time wich was mistaken as a home invation with charges extending from false imprisonment, torcher, assalt etc... When i was only trying to buy some pot not knowing why things went really bad and i was only trying to defend myself from attaching drugdealers. After firing my public defender and hiring manuel ramerez with his excelent prices and skill quickly took control and was able to get all bjt one charge dropped and inceased my chance of less prison time emensly. Deal was sighned because of a codepemdent snitchimg on us aout oir drig use and it being oit of control consuming very high ammounts of marijuana and other drugs. I am now clean today and libe a great healthy troubless life bc of the oppurrunity that my awesome lawyer manuel ramirez made possible for me to have a happy clean life as adult

Mr. Ramirez kept continuing my case and sent in his FAMILY to court on my behalf to later hear it has to be CONTINUED over and over and over again. I caN tell you this, the judge was NOT impressed. I was so sick at the end of this that i decided to take a plea......i got screwed over at the end of the day. I cant find a job to save my life. I am being denied job after job after HE told me DONT WORRY ABOUT IT YOU WILL BE FINE. My first case was in 2005 and he did excellent work and my last case was in 2011 and it dragged on until February of 2013 and i still have a felony after i was told i wouldnt. I was mislead and NEVER informed as to what was going to happen in my case. When my case was over in 2013, i stood there like a dummy not understanding what happened and Mr. Ramirez says, i have another case, ill talk to you later, im like what just happened!!!?? I never heard anything from him NOR anyone from his office!!! we are now 2015 and stuck. I cried my whole way out of the court room and was ashamed as to what happened. He started off really good but i feel i he failed me, as a woman, as a mother AND AS A HUMAN BEING. Karma is a B&%$H!!

This man is trying to take me to court for took from me after being in prison for way more time than I should have had, He told me that he would get me sixteen months instead I got four years with 80% and while i'm in jail he picked up all my property that was taken by the feds, I was released this year in January and when I contacted his office I got the worst run around ever all lies and avoidance on his part, when I got mad and told him how I felt about the whole matter he decides to take my words and turn them into words of criminal treats now I have to find money to get out of this mess , This lawyer is petty and useless, not worth your time....

Hired Mr. Ramirez for a big case and was very disappointed. Him nor his staff ever answer the phone. They do not Communicate as they should and then lie and blame it on The client! Thank god I am a diligent person who keeps All records. Mr. Ramirez and staff are not in the business Of keeping clients in the loop about anything and throw The hot potato around once they realize they messed up. Do not waste your time or money. Mr. Ramirez represented my boyfriend on an attempted murder case and failed us. We didn't feel he paid enough attention or time to my boyfriends case. He failed to accept phonecalls, cancelled visits which he would reschedule and fail to show up to numerous times. His receptionist covers for him and will tell you what times he'll be in and then won't answer the calls at all. Doesn't reply to emails like he says he will or keeps you informed the way he initially says he will either. Court dates were pushed back numerous times because of personal health issues which is understandable but if you health isn't well enough for you to work he shouldn't be working. Fails to properly communicate with both the client and family of the client. When he took he the case on he promised things he shouldn't of and his word is sad to say but good for nothing.

My wife of 25 years filed a restraining order against me. I am in my seventies, a retired surgeon, and have never had this kind of legal issue. Ms. Keegan did not start by evaluating my ability to pay but instead listened, clearly comprehended my situation, and agreed to take my case. She is a Jurist with the added outstanding qualities of organization, problem-solving, laser focus, attention, and retention of details, and she responds and adapts to changing circumstances with composure. Her patience elevates her to the highest levels of professionalism, coupled with her analysis, writing, and persuasion skills, will give you great comfort that you are represented by the best.

Estamos totalmente agradecidos.

I was referred to Anna by a friend. I needed some legal forms written up and gone over with me. I was also in somewhat of a hurry. Anna was very thorough in explaining everything to me and she was extremely hardworking. She had the forms ready for me in half the time the other attorneys said it would take. She was also very knowledgable in the matter at hand which made me feel safe and protected. I am very thankful for Anna and if you need legal help she is the best.

I needed a few things taken care of legally and I really didn't know where to start. Anna was so knowledgable about exactly what I needed to do and how she could help me. I was calling her with questions all the time and she was always so helpful and kept telling me to call her if I had any other questions! I recommend Anna to all my friends and family anytime someone needs legal advice as she is the best attorney I have come across.

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of San Diego, California?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
