Kelli is exceptional at what she does. I hired her for a very weak legal issue to represent me. She did not disappoint. She’s fierce, and will tell you like it is and will know if you are feeding her information that is not true. She is worth it! Let her work her magic and trust her. Her professionalism, communication, and attention made me feel heard. No matter what is on her plate, she will make sure you get the service that you never knew you needed. Don’t think about the money, think about peace of mind that she will be giving you at the end of the day.

Be 100% open and candid with her because she’s YOUR ADVOCATE. She’s young and aggressive but she’s also very realistic. She will set realistic expectations from the BEGINNING. If you want to be told what you ‘would like to hear’ instead of what you absolutely NEED to hear then hire someone else. BUT if you would like your high conflict case handled fairly and directly with the goal of LOWERING the hostility and rancor between you and your soon to be former spouse so you can actually come to a resolution BEFORE going to trial, I’d highly recommend Kelli as one of the finest divorce lawyers I’ve ever met.

If you need an attorney who is going to go to bat for you, look no further….Kelli is the real deal. I was lucky enough to get a consult and in that consult Kelli was a straight shooter and gave me the run down of what my case would look like. Kelli approaches law pragmatically and tells you if it’s worth it or not. I really appreciate her honesty and that she breaks it all down for you so you know how it’s going to go and from there you decide what is worth your time and effort. I will definitely be hiring Kelli if I go forward with this child support case. I’m just so glad I found a professional who is not only incredibly knowledgeable but is also forthcoming and genuine. It matters that I have an attorney who represents me and is someone I respect. I know just from the consult that Kelli doesn’t lose. Give her call.

To anyone who is dealing with a high conflict divorce case, this office is the one to represent you. Kelli is very talented, hard working and dedicated. She has an extraordinary knowledge about the law and superb ability to present your case. For more than 4 years I went through a very high conflict divorce proceeding. I had to defend myself against a Lot of untrue accusations that were merely the projection of the other party's own behavior and actions. Kelli represented me for the last year and did a phenomenal work. I also worked with Attorney Sue in this office who is very kind, knowledgeable and trusting. The office was always on time and delivered exactly what they had promised.

Call Attorney Kelli to represent you now! She and her staff represented me in a case that I was not in the county for and worked to help me avoid a foreclosure from a high conflict (military) divorce. Attorney Sue Yale worked closely with my case as well they both were up front, trusting, honest and timely the entire process. I couldn’t recommend them any more. They are extremely knowledgeable and confident in what they do. I'm super grateful to have come across Kelli to say the least. If you want a badass attorney, get Kelli Avallone’s firm to represent you.

My wife of 25 years filed a restraining order against me. I am in my seventies, a retired surgeon, and have never had this kind of legal issue. Ms. Keegan did not start by evaluating my ability to pay but instead listened, clearly comprehended my situation, and agreed to take my case. She is a Jurist with the added outstanding qualities of organization, problem-solving, laser focus, attention, and retention of details, and she responds and adapts to changing circumstances with composure. Her patience elevates her to the highest levels of professionalism, coupled with her analysis, writing, and persuasion skills, will give you great comfort that you are represented by the best.

I was referred to Anna by a friend. I needed some legal forms written up and gone over with me. I was also in somewhat of a hurry. Anna was very thorough in explaining everything to me and she was extremely hardworking. She had the forms ready for me in half the time the other attorneys said it would take. She was also very knowledgable in the matter at hand which made me feel safe and protected. I am very thankful for Anna and if you need legal help she is the best.

I needed a few things taken care of legally and I really didn't know where to start. Anna was so knowledgable about exactly what I needed to do and how she could help me. I was calling her with questions all the time and she was always so helpful and kept telling me to call her if I had any other questions! I recommend Anna to all my friends and family anytime someone needs legal advice as she is the best attorney I have come across.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of San Diego, California?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
