Like many Veterans, I filed a claim with the VA for a host of illnesses, to include two bouts of kidney cancer, which resulted in the removal of half of my right kidney and complete removal of my left. As a result, I have been on daily dialysis for the past two + years. After receiving the VA rejection letter, I spoke with an old Air Force buddy and close friend who several years ago also filed and was rejected. He told me that after fighting the VA for nearly five years, he reached out to Attorney Eagle. Attorney Eagle took his case and began the appeal process which resulted in a 100 % service connected ruling from the VA. I put off calling her and my buddy kept pestering me to pick up the phone and to give her a call. Finally, I quit stalling and gave her a call. I knew within the first minute of speaking with her that she was a fighter and that her mission in life is helping Veterans like my buddy and I to get the benefits we deserved. We talked for a good 30 minutes and then I heard her say “You have a case “. That’s all I needed to hear. She went right to work on my appeal and within a reasonable amount of time, I got the call that the VA had reviewed my appeal and I was rated 100 percent service connected disabled. I could hear in her voice how excited she was to be able to tell me that. So, if you are looking for someone to help you appeal the VA denial of your claim, you should look no further than Attorney Katrina Eagle! If she takes your case, she will work her heart out to get you the benefits you have earned and deserve. She will stay in touch with you every step of the way and will always respond to your calls or email. She is simply an amazing Attorney and a real champion for Veterans and their families. Give her a call - you won’t be disappointed!

I served in United States Air Force from 1970 – 1974. I was stationed at Anderson Air Force Base in Guam from 1971-1973, as fuel specialist. During that time, I was exposed to many different toxic chemicals including Agent Orange. I was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2011 and then two years later with thyroid cancer, the residual effects dramatically affected not only me but my family. After speaking with a representative for the Missouri Veterans Commission, I submitted a claim for exposure to Agent Orange. That claim was immediately denied. After this denial, the representative suggested I seek legal representation and was given the name of Katrina Eagle, Esq. Veterans Law Attorney. Little did I know then the dedication, tenacity and compassion this woman would show me for the next ten years! Over the course of the last ten years, numerous denials, frustrations and moments of utter disappointment and lack of the energy to continue this fight occurred, however Katrina was always there never wavering in her support and encouragement to not give up the fight. The Board of Veterans Affairs (BVA) denied our claims several times, the cases were then submitted to the US Courts of Appeals not once but twice and both times the Courts sent them back to the BVA for review. Thanks to Katrina and Jim Radogna’s continued support, knowledge and empathy for me, I am now at 100% disability. Never could I have imagined this outcome and will forever be thankful for their continuous support and encouragement to never give up the fight!

My Air Force veteran husband was in the hospital for eight months with an acute leukemia when we heard about Katrina. She took his case and worked through all the red tape and an appeal to get him into the VA and ultimately a settlement. I too am an attorney, but could not have managed this process without her. Be prepared, its a long process, lots of "hurry up & wait", but if you can produce the info she needs to make your case, she knows the system!

It is an absolute privilege to recommend Katrina Eagle. I was stationed at Camp LeJeune in 1973-1974 and I drank and bathed in the contaminated water along with my fellow marines. In 2018 I was diagnosed with Esophageal Cancer. I filed a VA claim, and it was denied despite VA having it on their list of Camp LeJeune conditions for which they would provide no cost medical care. Our VA service commission counselor said we had a strong case, should appeal, and recommended that we speak with Katrina Eagle. Upon our first conversation with her we felt at ease and secure in her solid expertise and genuine care. She had a clear plan for how she would gather the information needed as well as the process to pursue the appeal. Amongst the various actions she took was to obtain a medical expert opinion. When we read the experts opinion we nearly wept in gratitude. Katrina knows precisely how to gather the evidence needed and prepare the case. We felt calm during the process knowing she sincerely had our best interests at heart. She succeeded in obtaining a 100% total and permanent disability, which was the absolute righteous outcome. We would not have been successful on our own. We needed someone who has experience with the system and know how to work within the VA system. She would often explain why we needed to approach something a certain way. At every turn she was skilled, knowledgeable, prepared, precise, as well as kind, thoughtful and respectful. You could feel her compassion for our situation and the injustice. Listening to her you are left with no question as to her absolute commitment to veterans. Katrina is the best of the best and a profound blessing in our lives. If you allow Katrina Eagle help to resolve your VA problem, you will thank yourself later. Don

Katrina was highly recommended by our VA counselor, so I contacted her to help us through a disability claim. From the start, she struck me as extremely competent and organized. She always returned emails and phone calls promptly and kept me up to date on the case. She succeeded beyond all expectations, and then went further and got us more benefits. I rarely give five stars to anything, but I have no hesitation giving them to Katrina. With a plus!

My wife of 25 years filed a restraining order against me. I am in my seventies, a retired surgeon, and have never had this kind of legal issue. Ms. Keegan did not start by evaluating my ability to pay but instead listened, clearly comprehended my situation, and agreed to take my case. She is a Jurist with the added outstanding qualities of organization, problem-solving, laser focus, attention, and retention of details, and she responds and adapts to changing circumstances with composure. Her patience elevates her to the highest levels of professionalism, coupled with her analysis, writing, and persuasion skills, will give you great comfort that you are represented by the best.

I was referred to Anna by a friend. I needed some legal forms written up and gone over with me. I was also in somewhat of a hurry. Anna was very thorough in explaining everything to me and she was extremely hardworking. She had the forms ready for me in half the time the other attorneys said it would take. She was also very knowledgable in the matter at hand which made me feel safe and protected. I am very thankful for Anna and if you need legal help she is the best.

I needed a few things taken care of legally and I really didn't know where to start. Anna was so knowledgable about exactly what I needed to do and how she could help me. I was calling her with questions all the time and she was always so helpful and kept telling me to call her if I had any other questions! I recommend Anna to all my friends and family anytime someone needs legal advice as she is the best attorney I have come across.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of San Diego, California?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
