Lissa was not at all what I expected. She's a short lady but she is eloquent and forceful in court. She's larger than life and when she did my trial and me and my whole family - we were so impressed. She knows immigration law inside out. Like we had no idea she was THAT good. She never let the judgeor the attorneys from the other side bully her - she always pushed back hard. And during my trial, while the Homeland Security attorney kept going through his file to look for something, Lissa knew what page he was talking about and told him exactly where to find it. She made him look like a fool (but she didn't mean to, he just wasn't prepared like she was). Lissa is super nice and understanding, she let us pay her in installments. She put my whole family at ease (she even knows the names of all my kids! What lawyer takes time to know a guys family?) I will say though: Lissa doesn't do a lot of hand-holding, which is fair. I paid her to take my case and make sure I didn't get deported, so why should she spend time on the phone listening to my wife cry, so I get it. She always kept us in the loop via email or through her assistant. I'd been here in America all of my life and it was scary to be put in removal proceedings, but honestly, knowing that Lissa had my back made me feel like a man again. I have recommended her to all my relatives who need help, and I am so grateful to God I heard about her. Lissa literally saved me.

After my last lawyer messed up big time I almost got deported. I hid but ICE found me and put me back in Adelanto. We heard about Lissa from the other guys in there, so we got the cash together, and even if it wasn't enough, she took me on. She got the case reopened, and the judge granted me asylum even with my drug convictions! I couldn't believe how lucky I was. She was mad at me because I lied to her a couple times, but were cool now. My mom kept bugging her on the phone and she didn't like that but she was always polite, always returned her calls. She probably should charge more money, she does great work. And she said I get my green card in a year! I'd recommend Lissa to anyone, not just because I won, but because she treats you like a decent human being. I know a bunch of attorneys who just have dollar signs in there eyes. The one thing I didn't like about Lissa is that she can get real impatient real fast if you lie to her, and she rolls her eyes at you. My fault, I know, but when I get scared I lie sometimes.

Patricia Teunisse was amazing. She returned my call promptly, patiently listened to everything I had to say, and didn't rush me one single bit. I spoke with three attorneys today regarding my real estate matter, and she was by far the most knowledgeable and well versed. She spoke with me over the phone for a long time, and turned down my offer to pay her for her time. I would have went down to her practice and paid her a retainer had she advised that, but she told me that I didn't need to at this point. She's sharp, patient, amazingly well versed on real estate and law, and very empathetic. I will be using her when I need representation, guaranteed.

Hi, I am a Public Works General Contractor in the Orange County area for over 20 years. I was introduced to Patricia Teunisse and Randy Pitre of Pitre & Teunisse in 1998. Our meeting with Patricia and Randy went very well and they have handled all of our legal matters ever since. As a general contractor you don't include money in your bids or nor do you have a budget for legal matters. The best course of action for our business is to stay out of the court room. Patricia and Randy understand this and always guide us to the minimum cost with a legal matter but at the same time protect us from Harms way. Many of our legal matters have to do with a Subcontractor or a Public Entity. Patricia and Randy are extremely well educated in all areas of the law in Public Works, Public Contract Law, Public Codes, CSLB laws and many other areas of our industry. Patricia and Randy understand the needs of a general contractor in that, our focus is on completing the project for our client, when a legal item comes up, Patricia and Randy educate and advise us of all aspects of the legal matter. This has always helped us to make a smart decision to minimize cost and exposure to our company. Patricia and Randy care about the outcome of our legal matters, they are not just about billing a client like so many lawyers are.... They want to minimize legal cost and protect their client! For me, that's what I appreciate the most about Patricia and Randy. They Genuinely care about their client! I would definitely recommend Patricia and Randy to anyone who needs legal advise.

With this new employer, I became the top salesman in a very short period of time. My customer service skills are stellar. I had so many 5 star yelp reviews I lost count. This was in spite of the difficulties I endured during my tenure working for a business owner who, initially, was kind. Then saidowner quickly turned into the type of employer you have nightmares about. To make a long story short I was let go after a few months. I was shocked, Saddened, stressed. What do i do now, I have bills, rent . It was just a terrible time. The reason I was given for my termination made absolutely no sense. We had more business than we could handle. Needless to say, I was lost. I was so upset about the circumstances. Thinking, why let me go when I was the Top salesman? Then I saw an ad for my replacement, immediately the next day that totally contradicted what I was told was the reason for my termination. At that point I felt I need to obtain legal advice. I had no money to hire an attorney, but I am so grateful to have found Russell Gomm. His credentials are outstanding. A Harvard Law School Graduate, with many years of successful Employment Law Case wins behind him. So I called Russell's office. After I spoke to his secretary outlining my situation. He personally called me to schedule a consultation. Which, by the way, he came to my home town to meet me in person. After we spoke He was truly as upset as I was about what had happened , and He immediately agreed to take my case and to take on this tyrant of a business owner on my behalf. He also was so confident I had a case , but knowing my financial situation, he took on the case with no retainer fees. So we filed a wrongfull termination suit. Not long after, with Russell's tremendous knowledge of business, employment law , employees rights and his tremendous negotiating skills, we obtained a settlement without going to court. A settlement amount beyond anything I would have ever expected. In closing, if you ever need an attorney who is truly concerned about your case and your situation. An attorney who will be in constant contact with you so you don't spend your day wondering, " hey, where's my attorney, he's not answering my calls, " Then I highly recommend you call Russell's Gomm. He truly had your best interest at heart.

I found myself in desperate need of a lawyer after I was sexually assaulted by a coworker/long time friend of mine. Every avenue I had gone through to hold him accountable led nowhere. I went to our HR department and they did nothing. I went to law enforcement, the DA denied my case. I went to file a restraining order against him so at least he would be removed from the workplace and he lawyered up immediately. I walked into our first hearing by myself and his big shot defense attorney absolutely wiped the floor with me. My restraining order was denied. So I searched and searched for my own legal counsel when I discovered Russell. He was the first person with any kind of power who actually treated me like a human being. The first person who didnt know me from Adam to show any empathy. In all reality, my case wasnt exactly in Russells wheelhouse yet because of my desperate need for help and many roadblocks I encountered, he offered to represent me anyway. He worked day in and day out researching other cases similar to mine and in the end he saved me from having to pay half of my assailants lawyers fees. If you are in need of an attorney who genuinely cares about their clients, Russell is your man!

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of San Dimas, California?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
