I have known Karl Krooth for almost 10 years now. Mr Krooth was recommended to me by my former attorney in 2012. My U-visa petition was stalled and so we hired Mr. Krooth and his team. Within months, we got the petition approved. When was time for my I-485 I had no doubts who I wanted to represent me! And again, my petition was approved. He was so through, knowledge, confident and caring. In March 2021 he did it again! With his help and his team at Immigrant Crime and Justice I am so proud to have become a US citizen. Hiring Mr Karl Krooth and his team (Julian Sanchez Mora) has been one of my best decisions and investment. The peace of mind he gave me is worth every penny.

My application for naturalization was denied due to three criminal cases dating back to 1996 and 2002. After consulting with six different attorneys, one of them recommended Karl Krooth. After doing my own research on Mr. Krooth, I scheduled a consultation with him. Mr. Krooth's expertise and knowledge of both criminal and immigration law were immediately evident from our first conversation. I hired Mr. Krooth and the results speak for themselves. The 1996 case was re-sentenced to eliminate the immigration consequences, one of the cases from 2002 was reduced to a misdemeanor and the other which had been an aggravated felony was dismissed. As of June 9th 2017 I am no longer a felon and I'm eligible to reapply for my citizenship. I highly recommend Mr. Krooth for any criminal or immigration related cases.

My husband had several criminal cases which needed to be resolved. Karl was determined and dedicated to resolve his cases. Karl gave us reassurance and worked diligently on our cases. With post conviction relief, my husband's immigration proceedings will soon come to an ended. It's all thanks to Karl. Our families are forever grateful.

In my situation Mr. Krooth was able to get post conviction relief and vacate judgments in two different Counties which were affecting my immigration status. One very difficult county/Judge, Both extremely hard cases!! Over the course of two and a half years Mr. Krooth worked hard and meticulously in representing me as no other attorney had been able to do. He never sugar coated anything for me, was always HONEST and upfront about everything regarding my very difficult matters (cases). On August 27th 2014 Mr. Krooth completed the final WIN! for me and as a result I am now able to move on to become an American Citizen. I am eternally grateful for he's expertise and highly recommend Mr. Krooth to anyone looking for help in any criminal/immigration matter.

Mr. Karl Krooth is an outstading expert in his field! I had hired an attorney, but after trying for almost 1 year, he could not get a critical document signed for my case. Then, my attorney advised me to hire Mr Karl Krooth for further assistance...and he got a solution within 2 months! Mr. Krooth told me in my first visit " I find solutions to problems" and he did in my case. He is an expert in immigration law. I will never forget the day 04/10/2012 when I recieved his phone call comfirming he got it done! After 14 years of no hope in adjusting my status, finally I had hope again. My application is being processed by USCIS, thanks to Mr Krooth expertise and great effort. Please, if you need immigration advise go to him. He is worthy of my trust and respect."

As a scrappy startup, working with David from the early days of our business, we were able to secure multiple deals with major publishing and entertainment entities in Japan which were not only critical contributors to our success but also withstood the rigors of 2 exits. David's solid knowledge of the entertainment industry combined with his Japanese language ability and expertise in dealings with Japan were perfect to support our business.

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of San Francisco, California?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
