I must say, that I’m very disappointed with most lawyers I’ve spoken with. Even this law firm. I had fibroid removal surgery in November 2023. The surgeon burned a hole in my intestines. I had to go back for a second emergency surgery shortly after the first. They had to remove my lower intestine. I also end up staying in the hospital for two months. Not to mention still having nurses come to my home upon my discharge from the hospital. Nurses came to my home to care for my stomach wound. Every week. Then every two weeks. Until my wound fully closed. This went on until March of this year. Apparently a very few lawyers are telling me that since I didn’t die. And almost dying doesn’t count. Or the suffering I endured, is basically no big deal. Because I didn’t end up permanently crippled and also, I’m better now according to one gentleman at this law firm Callaway and Wolf. I won’t include his name. I’m sure if the shoe was on the other foot. It would be a different matter. If the situation happened to him or a loved one of his. It would be different matter. I’m not trying to be the victim. But I’m tired. I never left a review about a law firm before. I just need to get everything out. I’m so tired of the lack of humanity basically. Even if nothing comes of my unimportant situation. He also asked me. If I felt better now than what I did before. After the Doctor made a mistake during my first surgery. Unbelievable! Like Okay. But I would have felt better sooner, if he performed the procedure correctly the first time. I would have healed within 4 weeks instead of November - March of this year. Plus not to mention the extra pain, extra physical scars. And issues that it caused to this day! It’s just hurtful and dismissive to my humanity. I went in for uterine fibroid removal. Not to have my intestines damaged and removed. Plus I had an extended stay in the hospital. That’s means longer time recovering. Which is a process! I’m scarred physically from the three surgeries I endured. Not to mention emotionally! All this is stressful! What I went through was stressful and scary! My very first surgery went horribly wrong! I still have issues but it’s not a matter of life and death anymore. It takes time for the body to heal after a traumatic experience like that. I was told by another Doctor and nurse, that my stomach tissues would take a couple of years before fully healing. It’s barely been half a year. Since everything took place. How dare that Lawyer gentleman! He told me that I’m recovered. Because I’m not worse off as before when I was very ill. And close to death. I do thank God for my life. Despite everything I been through. God is still good regardless of who chooses to help me or not. I still have my life. I guess they’re only sympathetic to their clients. I appreciate their time anyway. Despite my experience with a referred lawyer. Callaway Please try this law firm still. Don’t let my comment stop you from trying them out. I just needed to vent because I’m tired of the lack of humanity and judgment from some of these lawyers. I shall remain prayed up. I will keep going. This will not discourage me. No stars for me is my review for this law firm. If I had the choice to choose no stars. I would

This is actually my second review (first was also 5 stars) of Callaway & Wolf, because my medical condition deteriorated after the initial surgery and partial settlement. It was the excellent advice from Boone and Vadim that allowed me to benefit greatly from a second settlement. Through the grueling 4+ year process of surgeries, rehabilitations and complex legal processes, I always felt Boone and Vadim had my best interests as their priority, and that they truly cared. Heaven forbid I ever find myself in the same position, but if I did, I would absolutely rely on Callaway & Wolf again; and I would also recommend them to my friends and family.

As a scrappy startup, working with David from the early days of our business, we were able to secure multiple deals with major publishing and entertainment entities in Japan which were not only critical contributors to our success but also withstood the rigors of 2 exits. David's solid knowledge of the entertainment industry combined with his Japanese language ability and expertise in dealings with Japan were perfect to support our business.

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of San Francisco, California?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
