My experience with The Law Office of Peter Goodman was excellent. My attorney Peter Goodman gave my case the attention needed to be successful in court. I would highly recommend Peter as he is highly skilled. He was able to get my felony dismissed and diversion for my remaining misdemeanor.

I was wrongfully arrested, taken to jail and told I had a warrant for i crime I didn’t commit nor was the warrant in my correct name. I was a nervous wreck after wondering what could happen to me. After contacting the office and speaking with Peter he helped me through every step and I felt assured I would be ok. Peter was able to obtain a factual finding of innocence after my arrest and as a result the records were destroyed. Not only was everything resolved, I felt re-assured every step of the way after consulting his law office.

I was charged with a federal drug crime that could have sent me to jail for years. I would have lost my family and my business if I was convicted. Peter Goodman took my case and kept me informed of what he was doing to help me. Many months later he called and told me the government had dismissed my case. If you need a criminal lawyer, I would hire him.

And most importantly of all, Peter fought tirelessly for my rights and never wavered in his commitment to protecting my interests. I would wholeheartedly recommend Peter to anyone seeking a skilled attorney. His dedication, professionalism, and caring approach make him an outstanding choice for legal representation.

Peter Goodman represented me in federal and state court. He obtained great results for me in both cases. In the federal case, I was charged with seven felonies. He fought my case and I ended up with a sentence of probation with no jail time. In the state case, Mr. Goodman convinced the prosecutor to substitute the felony charge I was facing, that could have sent me to state prison for three years, with a misdemeanor. I ended up with a sentence of straight probation. Needless to say, I highly recommend the legal skills of Peter Goodman.

I was fighting a very serious case in the feds. I didn’t know when I was coming home. I didn’t know the definition of the charges I had until I met Mr. Peter Goodman. He is one of the most important persons in my life because he genuinely cared about my case, including my family. Every time he came to see me he always said keep your head up. I put my trust in him because something told me if he believed I’m going to come home I need to. I was facing a long time but he fought for me and I came home. I appreciate everything he did for me. He genuinely cares about his clients. Thank you Mr. Goodman.

The DMV sent me a letter saying that my driver's license would be suspended due to not reporting a car accident. I had reported it within their requested timeframe, and my insurace had ruled that I wasn't at fault. This was outrageous. I was terrified of losing my license; I was recovering from a bike accident that left me with a mobility impairment at the time; I needed my car to get to and from work. Peter told me exactly what to say to the DMV. One phone call later, my license was re-instated. Thank you Peter for all your help!

I was arrested for a felony DUI because two passengers in my car were injured in the accident I had. Peter arranged my release and I went to his office where we had a lengthy conversation. Peter told me about the legal consequences I was facing but he promised to do everything he could to make sure I ended up with the best possible result in my case. Peter first persuaded the district attorney to charge me with a misdemeanor rather than a felony. He then filed a motion asking the judge to divert my case from the criminal justice system and the judge granted his motion. She placed me on diversion for 1 year and ordered me during that time to complete a 9-month DUI program, attend 40 Alcoholics Anonymous meetings and watch a video about the dangers of driving under the influence. It was a slow and steady process that enabled me to better myself as a human being. I still to this day stay connected with a few fellows from my AA sessions. After I completed all of the requirements of my diversion, I met with Peter once again at the Hall of Justice wearing the proper attire. I can still remember this being one of the most stressful days of my existence. We walked into the courtroom and the judge announced that the criminal case against me was dismissed. I will always be grateful to Peter for all the work he put in for me. It started out as a professional relationship but during the lengthy process it became personal as well. We stayed in touch the whole time and still do it today. I recommend Peter highly to anyone who needs an experienced, hard working and caring criminal lawyer.

One October night in 2016, I was driving home when a CHP officer began following me some distance away for honking my horn and playing my music too loud. As I began turning into my driveway, the office sped up and I saw emergency lights approaching behind me. I proceeded up my driveway into my garage and my garage door began to close. The CHP officer drove his patrol car up my driveway, quickly got out of his car when he saw my garage door closing, and stuck his foot under the door to prevent that from happening. He then entered my garage and began questioning me for driving under the influence. After he ordered me to go outside, the officer arrested me for DUI. I thought what the officer did could not be legal and a top tier divorce attorney in San Francisco referred me to Peter. After Peter reviewed the video from the CHP patrol car showing everything that happened, he told me what the officer did was an illegal search and seizure under the Fourth Amendment and he would fight the case on that basis. Peter filed a motion to suppress the evidence in Superior court but the motion was denied. He appealed that ruling to the appellate division of that court but that appeal was denied. He then filed appeals in the court of appeal and the state supreme court but those were denied. Peter then told me he had contacted a professor at Stanford who specializes in criminal appeals to the United States Supreme Court and the professor wanted the constitutional law clinic that he supervised to take on my case. During the following months, Peter and I participated in Zoom meetings the clinic as the motions were filed asking the Supreme Court to accept my case, which it did in 2020. In 2021, the Supreme Court unanimously held the lower courts were wrong and it reversed the order denying my motion to suppress. During the four years that he fought my case , Peter never gave up. His skills were evident each time we appeared in court. His methodical analysis of the issues in my case was present in every brief he submitted. l highly recommend my friend, Peter Goodman Esq., to anyone seeking an expert defense lawyer.

We were referred to Peter by a colleague of his when my son was arrested after a car accident. Peter did an amazing job defending my son over an extended case. He is very professional and communicated with my son and I during the entire lengthy process. He has many years of experience and helped us out in a very difficult case. We could not be more pleased with the outcome and we heartily recommend him to everyone.

...and a compassionate human being. I had the pleasure of bearing witness to Mr. Goodman's considerable skills when he was defending a man whose civil rights were violated. Mr. Goodman was thorough, compassionate, and diligent in his quest for justice. Peter Goodman really is one of the "good men!"

I was charged with felony child abduction which could have landed me in prison for years. When I decided to have Peter Goodman represent me, I was unaware that decision would change my life forever. From the moment he took my case, I felt I was in excellent hands. He understood from the beginning that my goal was to help my daughter, not just win a trial. Peter also understood why I refused to take the DA's plea deal. He knew it was important to me to tell my story about why I fled the jurisdiction with my daughter. At the preliminary hearing, Peter was able to convince the judge to reduce my felony charge to a misdemeanor. At the trial, Peter worked every legal angle possible to win my case. He was always on his game and he informed me of the strategy he would use to win my case. Even though the judge refused to allow Peter to present my state of mind as our defense, he got the evidence in anyway when the prosecutor brought the subject up. I called it the backdoor defense. What I remember most about my trial and something that will always stay with me was Peter’s closing argument. He used one word that summed up his argument beautifully. Gaslight. Peter asked the jurors whether they had seen the 1940's movie with Ingrid Bergman and many of them nodded as their eyes widened. As I listened and watched, I could see that Peter had connected with the jurors. At that moment I knew they understood. The jury got it! When we returned to the courtroom for the verdict, Peter held my hand. I think he was more nervous than I was. The jury found me not guilty of child abduction. It was a victory and a historic acquittal! I have one word that sums up Peter Goodman: brilliant.
