If CPS ever contacts you, do not agree to do anything until you have talked to Sarah first. She is very supportive, professional, and knowledgeable. I felt much more comfortable having her with us when CPS interviewed me, my wife, and my children.

Though the court (on the East Coast) ordered summer custodial time for me and child, my ex-spouse flew my son to California and petitioned to assert jurisdiction there. To compound the matter, a raft of child abuse and child neglect accusations were made to Child Protective Services (CPS), victim advocates, and the California court. As a result, CPS placed my son in a juvenile retention facility and imposed supervised visitation on me. This was false accusation hell, with the prospect of taking months to resolve. With attorneys, it's not so much what you know, as it is how you present yourself. In 30 years, I've never seen an attorney walk in and take charge of the courtroom quite like Carleen. Paying a little more for top notch representation can save you thousands (or hundreds of thousands) of dollars, and quite a bit of time. With civil cases, it's more important to have a well known law firm on the letterhead, but with criminal cases, you want an attorney who is local, well known, well liked and has presence. Carleen has been all of that for 30+ years now. It is additionally important that defense attorneys are equally matched to prosecutors. Typically, the deck is stacked in favor of the prosecutor; Here, Carleen has no match.
