I don't usually give bad review but I need to take my valuable time and give my very honest review. If Mr. Steve Huynh do not agree with my statement, please response. I got referral to seek help from Mr. Steve Huynh through my sister. I was really disappointed. Mr. Huynh was not ethical and responsible. He never gave me any good advices. I had difficult time to connect to him via email, phone call and text. He was very irresponsible as a lawyer. I DO NOT recommend Mr. Huynh for any services, not even filling out paperwork. He does not have the knowledges and capabilities as a lawyer. very very disappointed. DO NOT RECOMMEND. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY to hire Mr. Steve Huynh.

Steve helped me with my divorce process starting in 2017. Before I hired Steve as my attorney, I was close to a settlement with my X-spouse. At the 11:59 hr., my X-wife changed to a new lawyer. It was clear that my X-wife new attorney, being an intellectual property lawyer himself, was after my business and patents since he knew me prior to my separation with my X-spouse and knew that I had a start-up company with intellectual properties. CONFLICT OF INTEREST for this attorney by definition here. At this stage I knew I needed legal representation and decided to go with Steve Huynh after a recommendation from a financial professional. After a very careful review of my case, Steve asked me what outcome do I want and if the settlement that I was close to settling with my X-spouse was acceptable. I told Steve that would be fine. In the next year, we went over various unnecessary discovery processes as demanded by my X-wife’s attorney. Steve was very methodical and extremely careful with all the details. This is why I term Steve highly technical. Furthermore, he never said anything that was unrealistic or overpromising about the case. He never fabricated anything in anyone’s favor. Steve’s integrity and honesty was impeccable. In the end and after a year of needless waste of my time and money, Steve helped me to settle with my X-wife with very much what we were close to what we have almost agreed on previously. It was a very upsetting process for me and putting my kids through more pains than it needed to be. Steve tried his best to push the process forward quickly. Without any reservation, I would recommend Steve to anyone as an attorney to help them in legal matters. Thank you, Steve Huynh.

Steve Huynh is the best lawyer that you can trust with your case. I had worked with Steve on the case that was dealing with the county over the reassessment on my house. He spent times to go over the cases in detail and answered all questions timely through emails or phone calls. He built a solid case that lead to an amazing successful result. I was so lucky to get my case handled by lawyer Steve Huynh. If anyone who would like to look for a honesty, integrity and trustful lawyer to work with your case, lawyer Steve Huynh is the one.

Steve Huynh is a very professional attorney. I was going through a messy situation employer . Spoke to other well-known American attorneys. and they were nasty. They gave me an hour to come back with $4,000 to get the case started . I left their office and called Steve. Funny story, I did a google search for HONEST VIETNAMESE LAWYER San Jose. Google didn't read the HONEST part but Steve attorney came up. I am not going to disclose how much I paid but of course not that ridiculous price of $4000 The price didn't urge me to write this review. It's Steve' s personal attention to my family I was very depressed and feeling hopeless. I did have suicidal thoughts too. Steve was worried and he got on the case very quickly. After everything was done, he wrote me a very long email, telling me LIFE IS SO WORTH LIVING. I didn't expect that at all. He really did care . Sometimes amazing stories like this don't get told because of the confidentiality, but I feel like I should tell it, because I believe HONEST SINCERE and WONDERFUL people like Steve Huynh shold be recognized.

Sahar went above and beyond to help with my USCIS case, all in a very short 3 weeks time frame set by USCIS. Could not hope for a more knowledgeable and patient attorney.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of San Jose, California?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
