Pros
1
Highly knowledgeable and experienced attorney who is dedicated to achieving the best possible outcome for clients
“Nan is the most amazing lawyer I have ever met. So I was unfortunate to get sucked in a DV case where there was also some divorce involved. Nan was helping me all along the way, even help me out on the most difficult part, e.g., negotiating it down from felony to an immigration-safe misdemeanor, and also help me on relocation planning, what she did is amazing and way beyond what she was asked to do.”
2
Provides personalized service and guides clients through the legal process with clear communication
“From the very start, she didn't try to sell me on anything but provided me the appropriate information for me to understand my situation. Roughly a week later she followed up with me to check-in. She provided me with reasonable payment terms which helped me significantly. She guided me through the entire process and kept communicating to me on any new developments that came up.”
3
Aggressive and relentless in defending clients, with a reputation for getting the best possible outcomes
“Nan is a powerhouse and a bulldog when it came to my case. She had been maintaining a professional working attitude and used all her expertise and wisdom to get me out of trouble.”
4
Highly respected in the legal community, with strong relationships and connections
“It was clear that I had the best advocate by my side. The moment of truth came when the verdict was delivered - she was successful in keeping me out with charges acquitted! I cannot adequately express the overwhelming sense of relief and gratitude I felt. It was a life-changing moment, and I owe it all to Nan.”
5
Compassionate and truly cares about her clients' well-being
“Nan also displayed a genuine concern for my future. They worked tirelessly to secure the best possible outcome for me, and their dedication extended beyond the courtroom.”
Cons
1
Can come across as blunt or direct in her communication style, which some clients may find off-putting
“Some might think of her as abrasive, it is because she will not sugarcoat the gravity/consequences of your case. She ensures that you know the whole story, even if you don't necessarily want to hear it.”
2
Known to be in high demand, which may result in slower response times or difficulty getting in touch
“Although she had been pretty busy with multiple cases in her hand at the same time, she was still fully responsive and kept me updated during the whole period.”

Do not use this law incompetent group. They had a fine raised from 234$ to 360$ when representing me, simply could not ask for body camera footage when they were asked to, muchless cannot pick up their phone 90% of the time after a case is “dealt with”. I’ve gone through 8 different lawyers in my life even 3 star lawyers who presented and executed 10 times better and this law firm. I’m warning anyone who’s going through a simple traffic violation to not go through them. You will thank me in the long run

Hired Rodney Mayr Law for a red light traffic camera ticket. Rodney was great initially and spent a an hour with me on the phone being very thorough. My trial was 4 business days ago and they have still not communicated the results, updated their portal or responded to any messages in their portal. Over the past 2 weeks I've tried to call twice in the morning/evening with a daily voicemail and messaged 3 times in the portal with no response. The county has updated my case portal before I've received any comms on the status from my representation. Hope all is well with them but I regret using their service given the lack of comms or followup. Edit: Changing from 2 to 1 star. Just got off the phone with the Court and was told the attorney pleaded non contest immediately in the minutes, which was not what was discussed months ago. They were also given form I need to complete traffic school that I can't get ahold of them to obtain.

Sahar went above and beyond to help with my USCIS case, all in a very short 3 weeks time frame set by USCIS. Could not hope for a more knowledgeable and patient attorney.

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of San Jose, California?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
