When I first met Lawyer Joanne Zhou, it was during the most devastating time in my life. It was really difficult for me to handle all the emotion, anxiety and confusion in the divorce with my ex-husband. Joanne was recommended to me by a friend, to help me with my case. Without Joanne, my two daughters and I would have been close to homeless back then. During the marriage, my ex tricked me into signing a quitclaim deed. It was Joanne who helped me to keep the house that I have been living with the daughters so that daughters’ life not affected as well. My divorce lawsuit last for a few years, but the assets I finally received were far more than what I would imagine at the time. I also successfully obtained 100% custody of my two daughters. Not only did she help me to win the lawsuit, but Joanne also encouraged me to start small business to build my career post the divorce. Despite my limited English and never studied in the States, through her encouragement and my endless effort, I am now the owner of a few home-based daycares, while I am a full-time mother taking care of my two daughters. A great lawyer doesn’t just help clients to win a difficult lawsuit with her/his professional knowledge, but also go beyond and help clients to build confidence and be a better version of themselves after the lawsuit has ended. Unprepared, Uninterested, Waste of time and money! You will go to Andrew and he will tell you the same spiel he told me and everyone else. He will offer you a flat fee because he does not believe in charging you for every email and every minute, he spends talking to you about your case. And this will sound great, especially if you have been dealing with lawyer fees for years like I had been. Then you will find out the hard way that he is not charging you for time spent on your case because he is not spending time on your case. I can not tell you how upsetting it was. After paying Andrew the “set fee” I had one email exchange and one additional meeting with him (the first meeting I got a babysitter went to his office and he had his friend waiting to tell me he had an emergency and could not make it, we had to reschedule) . He literally looked over my response to her declaration and read her declaration, I included emails that I thought would be important but again he was uninterested and that’s the only information he had. Day of trial, A deer in headlights, that is what I got. I had to have him step down half way thru the trial because he was so unprepared. I asked him so many different questions before the trial and he assured me over and over that the judge would not be interested in witnesses, emails etc come the day of and he tells my wife and mother to sit outside to testify, I had to use my recess to run home and print out emails that were absolutely necessary. You hire a lawyer to know better than you. Andrew did not! I was left to fend for myself. My daughter is moving to NY and Andrew was a waste of time and money.
