Bill Makler is the premier DUI defense attorney in Santa Barbara. I had the pleasure of seeing Bill work up close when I was an attorney with the Santa Barbara County Public Defender's Office and his advocacy and skill in the courtroom and mastery of DUI law is unmatched in Santa Barbara. Whenever I have a DUI related question he is the first and only attorney I call for advice because he has seen it all. He is an extremely effective criminal defense attorney whether it be misdemeanors or serious and complex felony cases. He has also had impactful victories that benefitted not only his immediate clients but the community as a whole when he successfully sued the California Highway Patrol in a class action lawsuit for not clearing arrest records pursuant to California law. He also was one of the attorneys who helped defeat a proposed gang injuction that was sought by the city of Santa Barbara and the DA's office that would have been extremely harmful to a significant number of people and an unnecessary infringement on civil liberties. I would highly recommend him to anyone needing a DUI or criminal defense attorney in Santa Barbara.

Bill Mackler is my favorite attorney in Santa Barbara. He’s very knowledgeable, helpful, resourceful, and he will keep you focused on task. I appreciate that he gets back to me quickly, provides excellent legal advice, and he’s really a great guy. He often says he’s not charging me for a phone call, which is above and beyond what most attorneys do: charge you for every minute. Give Bill a call.
