Pros
1
Dedicated and invested in protecting clients
“It is my unequivocal belief that if you hire him you will have someone that is invested in protecting you.”
2
Achieves successful outcomes for clients
“Peter Kuykendall won my case. I was involved in a hit and run incident and I was framed because of a false witness. The case dragged on for 1 1/2 years and the Sonoma County DA was wanting to prosecute me. Peter Kuykendall has a conscience and he is extremely intelligent. Using his knowledge, strategy, and wonderful personality, he got all my charges dropped.”
3
Goes the extra mile for clients
“He under promised and over delivered. Most lawyers act like they have your back and will just plea a case out, move on to their next client, but Peter was willing to go the whole way (practically did on my first case - trial) and made me feel like his only client.”
4
Provides excellent communication and support
“He will do anything under the law to help you get the best resolution in your case. If I ever have any issues in the future he would be the first person I would call. He is reliable and for the most part he is always available to take your call going to great lengths to help his clients and makes sure you are comfortable throughout the legal process.”

Peter is an outstanding lawyer he really knows what he’s talking about I was really worried about my case in the beginning so I called Peter. Peter told me what to do. I was so worried the whole time probably stressing him out a little bit. He made me do quite a bit, but I was in quite a bit of trouble, and then the end all the stuff that we did is the only reason I didn’t go to jail in my situation. I couldn’t thank him enough for helping me keep everything in my life going even though I messed up, so call Peter doesn’t matter how much trouble you’re in he’s going to help you. I have had to use him multiple times and will again hopefully not but I know who to call. Thank you, Peter.

Peter is Amazing. I had 4 DUIS and 2 driving on a suspended and he got it all expunged. What I loved was his honesty from the start and that he didn't give up when the judge denied it the 1st time. His delivery was great and he really cared about helping me.

Unfortunately I’ve needed Peter Kuykendall’s service twice, but fortunately he is a calm beast of an attorney — He under promised and over delivered. Most lawyers act like they have your back and will just plea a case out, move on to their next client, but Peter was willing to go the whole way (practically did on my first case - trial) and made me feel like his only client. I’m grateful for his services and to be writing this from home.

If you want a lawyer that will handle your case like he was the individual at trail give Mr. Kuykendayll a call. A man of the people from a free consultation to his knowledge and honesty about what can be done in the courtroom. Payment plans saved me. He is a dedicated lawyer from 2013 to 2021 he was there and active from arraignment to expungement. No judgment only protection! It is my unequivocal belief that if you hire him you will have someone that is invested in protecting you.

Great attorney to hire, Peter has stuck by me every step of the way during my legal issues. By far he has shown me that he has a heart and really does care about his clients. He will do anything under the law to help you get the best resolution in your case. If I ever have any issues in the future he would be the first person I would call. He is reliable and for the most part he is always available to take your call going to great lengths to help his clients and makes sure you are comfortable throughout the legal process. Thanks Peter.

Joe was highly recommended when I was doing the legwork for a friend in need of an attorney. Not only did he return my call right away, he did so even though he had taken time off for the birth of his child. He was very knowledgeable and skillful, clearly answered every question we had and was such a comfort that he was the first call I made when my son caught his own case not long after. Unfortunately, due to financial reasons, we weren't able to hire Joe for my son but I HIGHLY recommend him to anyone and everyone. At the worst time in my family's life, Joe treated us with empathy and compassion while being realistic and straightforward about our options.

Words can not explain how lucky I was to have found a criminal attorney as good as Joe Rogoway. A situation led to my fiance, my roommate, and myself facing numerous aggrivated felony charges. Joe was my only hope against these aggrivated felony charges. My immigration status in the US was in jeopardy of Deportation, and whole life and future were now at the mercy of the criminal justice system. Joe was extremely educated and experienced with every one of my felony allegations, spanning from felony cultivation, felony possession with intent to distribute and felony possession of a stolen firearm, along with others. He was sensitive to my situation, and even assisted my co-defendants in finding suitable representation. Joe communicated with my immigration attorneys and very professionally navigated the whole fleet through our legal process. Joe was not only successful in getting me the best possible outcome (which most people didn't believe was possible in my situation), but also played the role of my therapist. Joe always found a way to be there for me and communicated with everyone from my attorneys to my family. Over all I truly believe Joe Rogoway is the BEST criminal defense attorney in CA, was underpaid for everything he did for me, and anyone facing criminal charges would be lucky to retain his services.

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Santa Rosa, California?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
