I came to Allison to get the E2 investor visa. She guided me through the process every single steps. She's always there to answer my question and give them promptly. I got my E2 visa and probably will hire her for my immigration need later on.

My 15 year journey to become an immigrant has been a long, arduous and sometimes fret with so much uncertainty, fear, and even desperation. The dream for a better life so that we could give our children a good future is always first and foremost on a parent's mind and heart. My Mom, who came to the US almost 30 years ago. was referred to Aquino Law office for her immigration needs then. Now I am following in my Mom's footsteps and have been so blessed and grateful that I have Atty. Allison Aquino and Atty. Richard Loew as my lawyers. Last year, I went to Atty. Allison to consult with her about my case but deep inside I was already resigned to the fact that there was no hope for my status anymore. But on that sunny afternoon, it was like the whole sky just opened up and shone unexpected blessings to me when Atty. Allison found a way to help me with my status.I was so shocked with happiness and excitement that there was still hope for my case after all! Atty. Allison was so thorough and helpful and straight to the point but at the same I could really feel her compassion for her clients. The Aquino and Loew Law offices treat their clients with much respect and caring and I really appreciated both Atty. Allison Aquino and Atty. Richard Loew's understanding and sensitivity to my own specific case. Atty. Allison, for one is very knowledgeable and really knows how to approach your case the best way possible. Atty. Richard also is a very proactive lawyer and definitely gets the job done. He was very invaluable in my Adjustment of Status Interview and was a great boost and support to me. The Aquino and Loew Law Offices gets a top rating and review from me because my experience with them has been very positive and very encouraging and inspiring. I am one of their many clients who walked thru their doors hoping that they could help me attain my dream of becoming an immigrant - and that is exactly what they did for me. They helped me get my dream after 15 years! I can just imagine the countless other clients that Atty. Allison and Atty. Richard have helped and changed the client's lives for the better. I highly recommend the Aquino and Loew Law offices for your immigration needs as they are on-point, very knowledgeable about immigration laws, caring and compassionate and very creative in finding solutions to cases plus their interpersonal skills are one of a kind. From my own experience with both Atty. Allison and Atty. Richard, I would consider them great lawyers who provide good service to their clients. They turned my fears into hopes, my frustration of my case into hopeful potential and finally, they helped me attain my dream of being a permanent resident after 15 long years! Thank you Atty. Allison Aquino and Atty. Richard Loew and your ever efficient and helpful staff for all your hard work and perseverance on my case.

I hired Allison Aquino in order to get the Green Card in USA. She was perfect in her orientations and her assistance. My family (part of 4) got the Green Card in a period of about 6 months. We are sure she was the major responsable for the success of our request. We are very happy with the result.

Wonderful experience working with Allison and her assistants. Prompt, honest, straightforward and truly professional in handling my case. Even though our communication was through email and phone call only, we were still able to work well. She understood the situation I was in and provided her concise input on how to proceed and we went from there until my case was solved. Highly recommended to anyone seeking help with immigration needs.

Most lawyers will talk to you briefly about your case and then ask for a retainer fee, without explaining your options. Atty. Allison Aquino and her partner Atty. Richard Loew were not like that. They listened attentively as I explained the details of my situation and thoroughly explained my options. Throughout the process of applyiing for my green card, I could call them anytime and they would either pick up right away or call back the next business day. I definitely recommend them to anyone who needs an immigration attorney.

I worked with Diana for many years when she was the in house attorney for the MWD for public works construction contracts. She has vast experience with dealing with contracts and constantly worked to get the best deal for her employer, and a fair deal to the contractor. She reads every word of any agreement, and there is not much that gets past her. She is an amazingly hard worker, and a quick study as if she doesn't know an issue, she will tirelessly research it so that she can give the best legal advice possible.

Diana Mahmud provided outstanding service on several public works construction contract matters for us. Her attention to detail served her well in drafting fair but bullletproof contracts. She took the time to understand her client's needs, emphasized preventative law by consulting with staff on potential trouble spots before they could turn into full-blown disputes, and was a powerful advocate when needed. I could not have asked for a better attorney to handle our contract matters.

I'm delighted to have Mr. Bunn involved in a potentially difficult legal estate-related family situation across three states. He has been thorough and complete in his representation of my interests and keeping me informed of my responsibilities and obligations. I couldn't have completed the task without his help. He came highly recommended from another attorney and choosing him was a sound decision on my part. It's always great to know someone who really knows his field!

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of South Pasadena, California?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
