My partners and I were starting a small business in a retail location when we ran into financial and other problems. We had signed a long term lease. We came to Mr. Hoffman who advised us to take advantage of weak wording in the lease to rescind the lease which we did. We were sued by the landlord for $355,000 plus attorney fees. Mr. Hoffman prepared an answer and cross-complaint against the landlord. Shortly thereafter, and before the landlord even answered the cross-complaint, we were able to settle the entire case for $22,500. We were very happy with Mr. Hoffman’s representation and his ability to successfully resolve our case swiftly.

Steven Hoffman's most outstanding quality was his responsiveness to emails, even on holidays and weekends. My case was unusual as it involved a sale of 50% of a house, the other 50% given as a mother-to-daughter gift. It was important that the sale not impact the gift that involved a prop 13 tax advantage. Steve Hoffman helped me with the sale, reviewing documents and explaining the requirements of the title company, and all was concluded smoothly at my end. As most "visits" were concluded through email, the cost was lower than expected and the unused % of the retainer returned immediately at my request after the transaction was concluded. Monthly statements were sent throughout the period.
