Dean was a pleasure to work with. He took the time to explain and walk through the process of everything with me from start to finish in detail and was very professional. Dean also took the time to check in with me and be available when I had questions via text and or phone calls. It made the whole process so much less stressful. Thanks so much for all your help Dean! I would definitely recommend anyone needing help with an injury attorney to come and see him!

Had my car totalled in April and they were able to get me paid in September of the same year. Definitely call them and see if you have a case.

Pros
1
Highly professional and knowledgeable attorneys who are dedicated to their clients' cases
“Both my wife and I were going through a very tough time in life, dealing with family illnesses through the holiday. During a family function my wife was convicted of Domestic Violence, We've been married 30 years and things happened. We decided to look towards getting a lawyer. We got online and made a consultation appointment with Kareem after noticing his solid reviews. After spending 30 minutes with him, this is what I gathered. I noticed how professional and to the point he was, he didn't sugar coat things and made it very clear how bad the situation really was. With this being said he still remained very supportive.”
2
Excellent communication and responsiveness, keeping clients informed throughout the process
“Kareem was very insightful, timely, and resourceful. He was able to be of much help in my very complicated court case and made sure I was informed with everything I needed and how to go about it. I am very thankful for him and will definitely be recommending him to anyone who is in a tough legal situation.”
3
Successful case outcomes, including dismissals and favorable settlements
“I cannot express enough gratitude for the exceptional legal representation provided by Kareem. Facing a DUI I hired Kareem with hope but also skepticism, unsure of the outcome. However, Kareem not only met but exceeded every expectation. He came to me with one offer that I refused and was not happy about, he assured me he would fight for me and get me something I will be happy with. Kareem delivered! My DUI was dismissed out of Pomona Court house without having to go to trial, fine was minimal, and I was happy!”
4
Empathetic and understanding approach, treating clients like family
“Kareem just has a way about him, he is patient and thorough and very positive minded. He met with me and took his time to learn my story. That was important to me.”
5
Persistence and determination in fighting for their clients
“It's been quite a journey with Kareem. 2 years and 6 months later to be exact. Kareem stuck by me and helped me fight my convictions. Today I walk away a free woman. The felony has been wiped off my record and my probation sentence has been overturned. Kareem Law was there for my family when I couldn't be and I am extremely grateful for that.”
Cons
1
Lack of responsiveness and poor communication from some attorneys
“Never had to deal with a situation like this so was a bit scared on how to handle it. But thankfully I got to work with Dean from day one he showed a lot of interest in helping me and making sure I knew everything that was going on.”
2
Concerns about the quality of legal representation and outcomes
“Demoran mucho en un caso dicen una cosa hacen otra sus representantes se presentan como abogados y no son abogados yo me voy decepcionada literal más de un año y medio para resolver un problema aparte de muchas irregularidades q podría mencionar pero prefiero entregar a la cámara de abogados gracias 🙏 no pierdan ni su tiempo ni su dinero …”

Hello. I am a juror that just finished a trial Mr Mayr was defense attorney to. I wanted to leave feedback but couldn't wait too long after trial. Based on the trial at hand, I, as well as a few other jurors, were impressed by Mr. Mayrs work. It was evident that he is a newer attorney but he took his time and made sure to think about what he was saying before it left his mouth. The evidence was relevant and broken down in a manner that clarified the situation. He did a good job at comparing details from both sides in order to illuminate inconsistencies in evidence presented. Very nice job! The only thing we snickered at (just being honest) is the testimony by the Dr. He wasn't prepared and though a lot if the things he was being asked by the prosecuting side were, in my eyes, irrelevant, it was a tad damaging to the opinions of my cohorts. He was ill prepared. But overall nice job. After discussing the case, several of us agreed we would hire Mr Mayr if we ever needed an attorney. Be advised, my review is based solely on observations from a jurors perspective (never dealt with him personally so can't comment/rate on some of the characteristics listed above)

To say the least, Mr. Bernheim was very thorough and professional in handling my case. He is tough, sensible, and fair. He and his staff are always available, and make sure that they return your calls as soon as they are able. But what I impressed me most with him and his team is that they really cared about me. I felt that I was not just "billable hours" to them. I was a person who needed help and advise, and they really provided that to me in a most sincere and genuine manner. They really made me confident and comfortable with them.

James was referred to me by a friend. My case is currently hung up in the appellate court due to the trial judge denying arbitration to the defendants (Citrus Nursing Center) he worked night and day putting this case together. He discovered so many cover ups and discrepancies regarding my sister's care. He is truly a man of honesty and integrity and I am so proud to have him in my corner. Definitely, 100 % would recommend him!

What Questions Should I Ask Before Hiring a Lawyer?

Hiring the right lawyer is crucial for the success of your case. Here are some important questions to ask during your initial consultation:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. Who will be handling my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Upland, California?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
