First and foremost thank you David for making my experience through all the legal proceedings flow smoothly and convenient for me as a client. If you are looking for a great DUI Attorney, David will go the lengths and dedicate his time to your case, you have come to the right place. David not only represented me a professional way, but took my case personal and it showed in the final Dismissal resolution of my DUI. If I was able to give 10 stars I would! Thank you David

From the beginning of my experience with David, he has delivered on his promises. I was cited for a DUI. He told me he knew everyone including the DA's at Van Nuys court from his decades of experience; it was amusing but true. David referred me to Anthony Scott for my DMV hearing and with his expertise, the DMV set aside my license suspension. David ensured me that this favorable result and his expertise would strengthen my case. Two months later, my DUI charge was dismissed to an ex. speed plea! I prayed such a significant reduction, and with David's magic, it became a reality. If you're in need of a DUI criminal defense attorney, look no further.

Mr. Kestenbaum has been my attorney, he is a very hard working and honest lawyer. He does not make promises he cannot keep and I am thankful he took my criminal case and vacated my charge. He always made things clear to me and explained every step of the way I put my trust in him and he did not let me down. I recommend him to anyone that seeks legal help, he has assisted a couple of friends and family members as well and has always assisted them to his full potential and we have had great outcomes. He has helped me tremendously And because of him I am now able to hopefully speed up my citizenship paperwork. He treated me as if I was his own family member. I will always recommend him and his team. Thank you David.

In my life time, the most important decision I have made was to hire David Kestenbaum law group to handle my Criminal case, the crime I did not commit I was wrongfully arrested by Los Angeles sheriff for using so called counterfeit money and changed by DA for misdemeanor, petty theft. I hired David Chesley law office to defend me, the attorney assigned to me missed two court appearances even though I went to court on two hearing, they kept telling me that DA did not file the case yet, till one day afternoon, the attorney called me to be in the court in 10min or my $20,000,00 bail would be forfeited, shortly, he called s back that the bail was forfeited. I started calling the law office seeking for help. Lorena with David Kestenbaum law group patiently listened to my story kept saying “ it did not sound right”, she said she would call the court to find out what was going. Lorena called back within 20 min that I was under court warrant for missing court days. She even guided me to go to court immediately. I went to court by myself, the judge told me that I would be in jail right-way. After hearing my story, judge told me that Chesley office filed wrong motion. Judge asked me to drop the David Chesley law office and assigned me a public defender to help me out off warrant. I was released on “ Own recognizance” Following day, I met David, Matt and Lorena. They took time to review the case and laid out plan to have DA drop charge. They fought hard for me. Matt went to court with me four times, he brought all the characters’ letters from the People who know me to DA, he went to bank with me to test the similar money I have and it was good money, he arranged secret service agents to test the money in the custody, the sheriff destroyed evidence, DA dropped the case, Matt successful asked judge to reinstate my $20000 cash bail, arranged sheriff to return all my properties and no delay on expungement. Not only did they provide me to the best legal service I could ever ask for, they gave me tremendous emotional and psychological support. Lorena called almost weekly to update me, comfort me. That is above and beyond. I highly recommend Davis Kestenbaum law group to whoever need criminal defense. This would be the most important decision and they will fight tooth and nail for the defendants.

I had a case with an attempt to collect an expired debt by an unscrupulous collector. Barry, spent the time explaining the law encompassing this case what our next steps are and what it will cost each step of the way. Anytime I had a question he was available to answer my questions and provide additional support. The case settled very quickly once the other party realized what they have gotten themselves into.

Garrett is absolutely an impressive attorney. I had a case that would jeopardize my life and defended me aggressively from day 1. Upon meeting him, his presence said it all. He's the best at what he does. I am extremely grateful for winning my case that lasted months. I will definitely recommend him.

I cannot recommend Lior enough!!!! I had a personal injury case that I had given to an attorney who completely neglected my case until about 3 months before the statute of limitations date. I had given up and figured that I wouldn’t push to settle my case and almost let the case go until a friend of mine introduced me to Lior. He literally salvaged and saved my case right away and settled it within a month!!!!! I truly can’t thank him enough for his attentiveness and being so on top of it all.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Van Nuys, California?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
