This firm screwed over two little children by getting them ripped from their home and took incredibly high fees in the process. They will fight over $10 and rack up $2000 in bills to do so. Avoid at all costs.

I strongly recommend you find alternative representation if you are considering working with Joe Wolch. While Family Law practices are firstly about their billable hours, this firm takes that to the extreme. You will grossly over pay with this firm. I spent nearly three years with this firm with no resolution to my case.

I am eternally grateful to Kathryn Mignani for consistently offering level-headed counsel in the midst of an extremely difficult divorce. She was the calm and collected advocate I needed when faced with legal challenges that I couldn't understand on my own. Not only did Ms. Mignani prepare and argue brilliantly and persuasively in court, but she also helped me make real-time decisions that saved my relationship with my children (7 and 8), strategize next steps in making a needed career change, and making rock solid decisions in rebuilding a life that was shattered by unexpected separation. Every time we went to court, Ms. Mignani successfully persuaded the judge to find in my favor on all the counts that mattered most. Unfailingly, when the opposing counsel made five or so outlandish requests or accusations, Ms. Mignani focused on the most consequential items and consistently defeated the majority, leaving the opposing counsel with little to show for its efforts. In fact, after most hearings, I would constantly debrief with my attorney with an overwhelming sense of awe, wonder, and gratitude that so many things had gone our way. It seemed that every time we entered court in a David vs. Goliath situation, we came out for more victories than we dared hope for. Ms. Mignani consistently won the judge over with her professionalism, sound argumentation, and impeccable documentation, presenting the court with concrete evidence to prove to the court the strength of my character, my commitment to my family, and the faultiness of the opposing counsel's logic. Ms. Mignani was available at all times, offering wise counsel in the moment and constructing brilliant strategic moves in court. In emergency situations, Ms. Mignani would always respond by text immediately and then follow up with a call or an email within the day. Whenever opposing court filed a document that left me panicked, Ms. Mignani knew exactly what to tell me to calm my fears and see me through to a favorable outcome for my children and myself. Through it all, I always knew that she was personally invested in the welfare of my children and family. I wasn't simply treated as a client; I was treated like a friend. Ms. Mignani has a gift for treating others with the respect, compassion, and dignity that can truly build people up in the midst of crisis. If you are looking for someone to represent you who is brilliant and kind, professional and compassionate, compelling and wise, I cannot recommend Ms. Mignani with any higher praise. To this day, I still reach out to her to thank her for keeping my family together and helping me rebuild my life with her tenacity, commitment to the truth, and wise counsel.

John is by far one of the most trusted attorneys I've worked with both professionally and personally. He walked us through each phase of our Will and Estate Planning and personally delivered our final documents to go over each and every step so my wife and I understood.

I just had a single interaction with this firm with an inquiry. They reponded pretty quickly. Although they could not take my case but answered to my email with proper advice and reference. My review is based on that single interaction but I felt really good about it.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Five Star Law Firm Marshall law firm is the best. I want to thank him again. I don't think his clients are just another case to him. When I read his demand letter I had to thank him for listening to me. He not only represented me throughout the matter. He was available to answer questions I had along the way. I'm grateful that Chuck Marshall is on my side. My matter was settled before the real damage was done. I purchased a BMW Thinking they would use my capital one. “ Never do what I did, That is leaving with the car without ever seeing the contract”. Until Chuck Marshall represented me the dealership treated me and this matter like a joke. THANK YOU CHUCK MARSHALL

Six months ago, one of my children was arrested, and the charges were very serious. We immediately contacted Mr. Burak, who was incredibly supportive, and caring. During this difficult time, Mr. Burak always made sure that we were understanding what was going on with our child, as we had never been through anything like this before. He never ignored our questions, (we had many) and he was always open to listening to anything we had to say regarding our child's case. Mr. Burak's knowledge of the law is very reassuring to a parent (or anyone) who is seeking his help. On the several occasions that we had to attend Court, we noticed that Mr. Burak is very well respected, amongst his peers and other officers of the Court. We were so grateful that he was by our Child's side, and very much appreciate everything he has done, not only for our Child, but for us as well. Had we not hired Mr. Burak, our Child's future would have been destroyed. I can only imagine how things might have been, however, our child has a second chance, and that is because of Mr. Burak. We will never be able to thank him enough. He saved our Child's life.

I hired Blackie to represent me for my second DUI offense. I immediately felt calm after speaking with him on the phone. He only said what was necessary and was very clear. He took care of everything. In court it was obvious that Blackie is well known and respected. If you're looking for a professional that is well known in the field and will get things done, he's your guy. Just do what he says and you'll be fine! Take a deep breath and know it will all be taken care of! Call Blackie, you won't regret it!!

Blackie defended me in a DUI case, which ended in a mistrial. We went back to trial a year later and Blackie convinced the DA and judge to dismiss the charges, and I was exonerated. Blackie is a hardworking and honest lawyer, and his wife Jane is understanding, caring and a pleasure to work with. I did quite a bit of research before retaining Blackie and also recently sat on a jury for another DUI trial. Put simply, I don't believe there is a better DUI legal team out there. All the other lawyers I talked to recommended I plead guilty. I'm glad I didn't listen to them and retained Blackie instead.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Walnut Creek, California?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
