When we decided to build a trust, my husband did a search online and found Law Offices of Stefanie West, Inc. Stefanie West is a treasure—a real pro with integrity and honor. Here’s why: my wife and I spent almost an hour with Stefanie in her office going over our needs for a trust and a will, when we casually mentioned our plans to move out of California next year. To our surprise, Stefanie told us she thought it really would be best not to use her services and suggested we wait until after we move and contact an attorney where we plan to live—someone with specific knowledge of their state’s statutes. She said while the documents she would prepare for us would work, they may not optimally mesh with the laws of other states, and she didn’t want to risk preparing them for us only to later require us to redo them. Of course she wanted our business, and to this point she had put in well over an hour of her time preparing for the meeting and meeting with us, but she didn’t think proceeding with our plan to work with her was in our best interest. We know nothing about wills and trusts, and she could’ve charged us a fee just for the time she had put in, but she didn’t!
