I should have checked the reviews before contacting this attorney. My trust in this website has rapidly faded in the last year based on other attorneys that are recommended here. I made the assumption that if Avvo shows a profile with a 10-star rating by Avvo and "Pro" next to it that it would be credible but I was wrong. This attorney was incredibly rude, impatient and ultimately hung up. I have dealt with many attorneys throughout my life and often leave nice reviews for the ones who operate in a professional and especially compassionate manner. This is not one and I would be very hesitant in hiring her based on the other one star review in addition to this one.

For 2+ years, Carolyn Phillip's kept us from being sued for massive damages by her expertise in easement/ sewer matters and wording documents in such a way that kept us out of the Ventura courts against TWO lawyer groups. With her help, we were able to settle in an equitable manner without cost to us. We are so appreciative and thankful to her and would use her again in an instant. Carolyn was efficient, knowledgeable, and always protected our interests in this complicated dispute over a sewer line and connection that was never on either of our titles.

Carolyn was our best choice and start to our case. She notified parties involved (who were not initiating any activity) and brought our attention to initial issues important to the pending schedule/actions. Ultimately, she identified, contacted and forwarded us to corporate attorneys who were primarily responsible for the case.

We needed a lawyer that you could trust and depend on. So I contacted Carolyn Philips, It was a great experience working with Mrs. Philips. She was very responsive and personable in handling our affairs. When there was a breakdown in communications with our payer, Mrs. Philips was right there to resolve the issues. Her team is super! All documentation was professionally written, communications safe and secure. Great office to work with! Money well spent!! Experience Excellent!!! I would recommend Carolyn’s Law office for any type of law services, because the support is great!!! And you don’t see that every day.

We have used Carolyn on numerous occasions to help us on real estate matters. We had a dispute with a company who had contracted to put on guttering covers, and in doing so did damage to our roof. When questioned they tried to put blame on the roofing company who had put our roof on 10 years prior. The gutters were to close to the roof, but nothing was said, and they didn't want to take responsibility. She contacted them and soon we had our gutters lowered and new coverings installed, without having to take it to court. She is very knowledgeable and thorough in her work, and I would highly recommend her.

When you’re in business, you need two good professionals, a good accountant, for obvious reasons, and a good attorney -that's Carolyn Phillips. Over the past 14 years, she has provided vital assistance to my company, from reviewing and negotiating key provisions in my Office Lease Agreement, which benefited me instead of the landlord; to reviewing and amending my "Engineering Contracts." She has also kept us out of legal trouble by educating myself and my engineers about the legal environment of our business. When problems have arisen over the years relating to possible errors and omissions she has evaluated the situation, advised us as to how to proceed, and has always been correct in her assessment and advice. She does the work herself, she's creative, committed, and a great legal mind.

Carolyn came highly recommended as an experienced business attorney. I contacted her regarding a false claim made against me, we discussed her prior experience in this area and she made me feel better about my situation. In preparing my defense, we had conversations at all hours of the day and night... definitely a dedicated attorney. Her experience and knowledge of the law perhaps convinced the opposing council that they had no case against me. Money well spent! I'd recommend giving her a call.

Carolyn Phillips is an amazing attorney. She won my case -- saving my property. It was Ms. Phillips against 3 attorneys; two of which are corporate attorneys. These attorneys had all the money in the world and fought dirty. They played every trick in the book including giving Ms. Phillips technical discovery as the witness was getting on the stand. And the Judge allowed it. Carolyn Phillips read the discovery, listened to the direct examination and then in her cross examination – she busted the “experts” on all their misinformation and outright lies. On the spot, she blew their bogus case right out of the water. This happened three times with three different “experts”. To top it off, Ms. Phillips knows the law so well that she correctly advised me on the final outcome of my case long before we went to trial. The Judge even used her terminology in his final decision. Carolyn Phillips helped me every step of the way to understand the legal process. She guided me on the law. She cared about my feelings when I was being lied about and bullied. This has been a cruel and arduous journey through the legal system but with Carolyn Phillips by my side, I am victorious in my case and I am a stronger woman because of her. Thank you Carolyn Phillips! You are a rock star and I am so grateful that you took on my case. I don’t think any other attorney could have won. You did. Thanks to you – I have my land back.

Negative stars should my rating. Carolyn is the worst! I paid her for 7 months to berate me, argue with me and lose my case. Opposing council imposed sanctions on me for over $26,000 because there was no Discovery. I gave Carolyn all my answers but she didn’t use them. She didn’t give opposing council the answers they wanted, even after they gave her extensions. I knew more law than Carolyn did. I had to school her on the Davis Sterling Act. She didn’t add it to my Complaint. I kept asking her why she wasn’t doing certain things and asking her to DO certain things, and she did nothing but collect paychecks. By the time I fired her she had hurt my case so badly, I was losing (I had filed a complaint against my neighbors, who had violated all the CC&Rs and had taken over our property) a case where they were 100% guilty. A no brainer. Before I fired Carolyn, she told me the opposing council was going to file a complaint against me for Malicious Prosecution. I was so upset! I didn’t understand this, but she told me not to worry. It would be after the case. I told her I didn’t want them to file a complaint during OR after the case. I didn’t want them to file one at all! They were filing it because Carolyn was being evasive by not answering their questions. They said I was making up the complaint without any grounds. She told me this but said she had taken care of it. I kept asking her what that meant and she never answered. She did tell me, she didn’t remember the exact conversation between she and opposing council. She caused me so much stress, grief, migraines and nausea. I actually vomited for a whole weekend when I found out about Malicious Prosecution. The person I hired to take off stress was causing more AND losing my case with extra added bonus of costing $ Turns out opposing council does think I’ve been evasive though I have proof I gave the answers to Carolyn and have documents to show it. I learn things that she did or didn’t do everyday from my attorneys. I can’t even move forward on the actual case. My attorneys are playing catch up trying to get out of the trouble I’m in because of her. Stay far away from Carolyn. She’s also rude and offensive when she speaks to you. I read reviews where others had experienced this with her. Unfortunately not prior to hiring her. One time I told her I didn’t appreciate the way she spoke to me, was rude and offensive to me, and this is the way she responded, “You’re not the first to say this. You won’t be the last.” That says everything. She knows it. She makes you feel horrible, wrong, even when you’re right. I have overwhelming evidence on email, pictures and a signed contract, and all she kept saying was, I had no evidence, no contract, and I just needed to settle my case. I couldn’t believe it. Carolyn doesn’t answer your questions, follow up , return phone calls or emails. When you call her on it after a few days of not hearing from her, she snaps at you and says you’re not her only client. As if one phone call or email in a week asking for a response is an imposition for her. I asked her why she couldn’t acknowledge that she received my msg, couldn’t speak for a few days, and would get back to me when she could. Her excuse was she was in Depositions. These don’t take all night and day. That’s one step above “The dog ate my homework.” Another surprise. I had a list of items on my complaint when I first met with Carolyn. She told me, that I’d have to change my complaint to take almost all of them off which I did. She said they weren’t applicable. Turns out they are. My new attorneys tell me that everything on the complaint should have stayed in. Now they have to ask the court for a Leave To Amend. It has to go back to the original. Carolyn has no right to call herself an attorney. Do yourself a huge favor and stay far away from her!!! She has cost my family and I so much pain, so much money and since I fired her in Dec. still costing me a lot money. It’s a lose lose situation.

While there were a few times where there was a gap in communication, it really comes down to results and I have no complaints in that area. While Ms Phillips indicated that part of my case could be challenging, she was successful in getting everything that I felt was owed to me. In the end, that is all that matters
