He charged me $100 for a consultation, then told me he played golf with the dirty cop who arrested me and wanted to charge me $7,000 to get me a plea deal. I won my case without him. The jury was out 20 minutes. This guy is a crook.

Left a message on a very important case with the receptionist. Never heard back from the lawyer. I would use someone else!

I would give no stars because this attorney and his staff do not return calls and offer no customer service. The only thing this man had to do was file one set of final papers and he couldn't do that and still hasn't corrected the mistake. My divorce was supposed to be final July 31 and we're in October and it is still not over. Terrible attorney and terrible staff.

Carson has been and continues to be extremely supportive, knowledgable and reliable. Our work together began when I reached out to him for assistance with a corporate agreement. I needed opinion from a legal counsel, and he has been so supportive in helping me compete the task while thoroughly educating me along the way. I highly recommend Carson Saporta.

I've had the pleasure of working with Carson on multiple projects with him providing legal services for both in-house use and contracting needs. He is very efficient, knowledgeable and fair. We needed contracts for clients who hired us for services, we had several Master Services Agreements and Agency Of Record contracts that he helped draft and update, and he drafted contracts we use in-house for employees and other services.

I called for some advice/guidance and he gave me the time of day to listen to my situation. I wish I would've had him for a case instead of the original lawyer I had. Definitely recommend

Mr. Whiteside is a very brilliant lawyer. He took care of my case from the beginning of this year 2021. Grateful for his passion, dedication, and professionalism. His truly the best lawyer to work with, very helpful and understanding. Today 10/27/2021 my case has been dismissed and I was charge with assault with a deadly weapon. Job well done Jason Whiteside, job well done and thank you for believing in me when I told you I want to fight this case because I'm innocent. Thanks again and may you blessed with every cases that you handle in the future.

I had a squatter on my property over a year with 15 animals that destroyed my yard and house. The squatter had piles of trash in the yard and code enforcment had sent sever notices to me. I spent thousands in cleaning up and trying to remove this squatter. After calling the sheriff out for the latest issue - the officer highly recommended attorney Don Ross. After a quick phone call Ross took the case and less than 2 months later I got my property back. He is simply the best! Don't waste time - call him today!

Mr. Ross truly saved my life. Without his help, my divorce would have been the end for me. I was facing the end of a 15 year marriage, with two small children and no income. I hired another local attorney who promised big, but delivered nothing! Worse, My husband had convinced the court of such terrible lies that the judge said he was seriously considering permanent removal of my custody of the kids! I had no voice, no time and never felt more alone. At my lowest moment, Mr. Ross came to the rescue and completely turned everything around. His experience as an officer and his work with the DA’s office was critical in getting charges brought against my husband for the years of abuse and also navigating thru the complexity of court rules in family law. Now we are free. My only regret was not hiring him first!

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Yucca Valley, California?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
