I have had a barrage of issues! I started my spousal petiton two years ago now i paid him monthly to the total sum of 3000 . When it began i was working with his "director of operations" Jose Cano. He was a joke about four months later they moved offices and gave me no warning or letter at that point i found out Jose was gone. In came an assistant by the name of Alex he was helpfull but had no idea were my case was i guess when the office move happened my files were misplaced and it wasnt until three weeks ago i started working with John Prater he is trying to help but i am on the verge of requesting a refund this has gone on to long with little results.

Mr Prater promised much more than delivered. We spent $3,000 for immigration court and all he did was get an extension, no other help at all. Right after one $700 payment he moved offices with no notice to us and no way to contact him. We paid his fees yet he wasted 12 months doing nothing, telling us nothing and then contacted us only 1 month before court. He gave us tasks that we couldn't fulfill in the time so my husband was deported for nothing more than a traffic violation of driving w/o a license.

Our family has had several occasions to use the services of David Kirch and Emily Bowman. Mr. Kirch created wills for our blended family that solved the somewhat complicated issues of “yours, mine and ours.” Ms. Bowman updated my late mother’s will. When my mother died (at 102) she was confident that her estate would be handled as she wished. Ms. Bowman handled all details, especially things with the court system that could have been time consuming and confusing. We highly recommend this law firm for wills, trusts and estate planning.

I thoroughly enjoyed working with this firm. My attorney (G. Deffenbaugh) was professional, competent and compassionate. The firm overall made a very difficult situation tolerable. I highly recommend this law firm.

I enjoyed working with Emily Bowman and David Kirch. They we very responsive to all of my questions and ideas, and they took the time to make sure I understood all options. Emily was respectful to me and my situation, and I felt like my issue was important to them. It was time we’ll spent!

I posted a legal question on AVVO, and immediately got a ton of responses from many injury lawyers across CO. Almost every lawfirm’s response on there was to contact them immediately. However, Mr. Richard Gama from Gama Law firm was the ONLY lawyer that responded by saying that I needed to seek medical help for my injury first, before I had worry about a lawyer. No questions asked, I went ahead and reached out to him and see if he would be able to represent me. I knew this was someone who was not only interested in representing me but also cared about my health and well-being. Given the fact that this was my first ever vehicle accident with an injury, I knew little to nothing and did not know what to expect. However, before I would even wonder or ask him a question , Mr. Gama would have already told me what to do or what to expect. It truly was an easy, quick and effortless experience throughout this whole process. It was nice to know that someone knowledgeable, experienced and very well qualified, would be able to talk you at a personal level but also be very professional about things. I truly felt at ease every time I talked to him whether through phone call or email communication. He was always available and ready to meet and would give you his full attention and time although he had a busy schedule. (He even drove up to my job) I just want to Thank Mr. Richard Gama for his time, patience, great advices and of course his willingness to help and made sure I, his client, was fully satisfied with my case before anything. I most definitely recommend him to anyone who needs an expert in injury cases because he will give you his best. This is someone who truly cares about his clients and their well-being.

I hired a "big firm" for my car accident case but they never returned my calls or kept me posted about my case so I fired them and went to Mr. Gama. He always made time to talk with me and we really stuck it to the insurance company in the end. If I ever get hurt again I know who I'm calling.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Aurora, Colorado?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
