When I first spoke with Todd Burnham, he listened empathetically to my predicament and I felt completely heard. He reflected back to me my concerns and, based on my specific needs, was able to assign his attorney, J.P. Prentiss to my case. J.P. does two things very well. First, he gets work done quickly and does not waste any time, bridging any silence with proactive communication so you always know where things stand with your case. Second, he is honest about what is possible. I’ll never forget how clear I felt when he said “if I had a magic wand that could make someone stop being a jerk, I’d do it in a second...but I can’t. I can only work to uphold the law.” That said, a lot turned out to be very possible in my particular case. In 2018, my relationship with my eldest daughter’s father has become strained and, despite our many on paper agreements, became useless as they had never been filed them with the courts. J.P. took swift action asking me to collect documents so he could put both a parenting plan and child support orders in place. He was friendly and courteous to the opposing counsel and worked well with all parties to ensure things moved along at a good pace. What emerged was a legal framework for the co-parenting of my teenage daughter. I can now rest easy knowing a legally enforceable plan is in place that advocates for her health and safety. So, no matter how much time has passed (14 years in my case), or how hopeless you feel, know that you can go to this law firm and they will make sure you get a fair shake with the courts and are well represented.

I've been looking for divorce attorneys in Boulder Colorado for help on a child custody matter for awhile. A long story but I've been wanting good legal support in this area and to be honest the selection is thin and most in this field are old and out of touch with modern day litigation. Now that you guys have an office here I know where to go for my case evaluation.

Just last week I was online for a friend searching for Boulder divorce lawyers and wish I would've seen you guys because I ended up talking to a few others who didn't strike me as "understanding" my unique situation. Then I found you today and I think I know who to recommend to my friend.

The person who answered the phone was as rude as could be, I explained that I needed to speak to an attorney to discuss whether or not I had a case and she made sure to give me the most disrespectful response and attempted to pass me off to a coordinator and not an attorney. When I stated that I needed and attorney and not a coordinator, she stated, "then keep shopping around." I don't know about you, but an attorney is your employee when you hire them and this is not how they should be treating their clients/boss.

JP is great to work with. He is confident, well versed on complicated matters, handles difficult questions and is extremely responsive. I would recommend him!

Very satisfied and highly recommended We retained Mr. Belzer at Burnham Civil Law to help us with a contract dispute. We were very satisfied with the process and outcome. Mr. Belzer is very bright, articulate, detail oriented and effective. His support staff was also excellent.
