Pros
1
Excellent legal expertise and technical knowledge
“Diedre Braverman clearly understood the technical details of every strategy we chose to employ but didn't ignore the human side of planning either.”
2
Personalized and empathetic approach
“Diedre handled our situation with sensitivity and care.”
3
Responsiveness and timely service
“Not only did Diedre handle our situation with sensitivity and care, she exceeded our timing expectations.”
4
Exceptional client communication and education
“She took time to explain everything to us, sometimes twice.”
5
Dedication to clients' best interests
“While her medical issues kept her unavailable recently, she is a highly caring and highly ethical person who is doing everything in her power to provide her clients with the best possible outcomes.”
Cons
1
Potential disruptions due to personal health issues
“A very serious medical emergency required that Diedre relocate to where her husband could care for her and supervise the hospital's care of her serious medical condition. While she has been under treatment for many months, some of her legal work has been put on hold.”
2
Concerns about third-party trustee arrangements
“Diedre was our trustee on an insurance policy but at some point stopped paying the premiums. She left with no notice. I'm sorry if she had health problems, but is it really not possible for someone else to step in and perform the duties? This shows me that third party trustees are a terrible idea.”

Working with the Braverman group for our family’s estate planning has been a very pleasant and easy experience for my husband and me. From the beginning of the process we were put at ease, and every question we’ve had has been answered fully and promptly to our satisfaction. Everyone we have come in contact with has been kind, knowledgeable and highly professional. We will continue to seek legal services from Braverman for any need that may arise in the future.

We were dealing with a very difficult personal injury case where some SUV ran over a bicyclist 3 years ago and caused multiple injuries. Jerry Sloat treated his client in an calming and empathetic manner always stressing to seek the best medical care despite the fact that most of it had to be covered out-of-pocket. He handled the insurance claim through the years. With John Duguay's help the claim was finally resolved very favourably so that continuing medical care got ensured. We thank the law office for their emotional and professional help and highly recommend for personal injury claims.

I was referred by another client that had a great experience with this law office. I can't agree more! They respond quickly to messages and keep you informed along the way. I never felt like I was a back burner client, they made me feel like my case was a priority to them. I would definitely refer Nikki, Bob and Laura to anyone needing a personal injury law firm.

I haven't had the need to find legal help until a recent auto accident where i was rear-ended and while it took considerable time to come to conclusion (as almost all auto injury lawsuits do), Bob and his team were persistent and also very good communicators helping me make the right choices and conveying all the abundance of information to me in a manor that made it easy to feel confident about my choices in pursuing resolution. I was and am very satisfied with how they handled my case and will both use their services and recommend them to my friends and folks I meet who may need help. Nice and wonderful people. Many thanks!

Michael was a lifesaver for us - I called him early one morning and he immediately jumped into action and went to the jail. He met us at the courthouse that afternoon for a hearing. Throughout our case, he was accessible and extremely knowledgable, which made a stressful situation much easier to navigate. He knows the law, the judges, the court process and is a very calming force. I am so thankful for his help getting a positive resolution to our case!

My brother passed away 2 1/2 years ago. He had a Will and a Personal Representative to oversee the distribution of his estate. Upon his passing his PR suddenly lawyered up and cut all communications with myself and younger brother we are both heir’s as is the PR. The environment got very hostile, I could never get straight answers from the PR or her attorneys. So I decided to see if I could get some legal advise. I found a web site which offered free legal assistance, I submitted the questions I needed answered and waited for a reply… Robert Murillo answered my questions this guy is restored my faith in the legal profession . He listened to me and then told me what my options were, I was impressed and hired him that was around the end of January 2024 it’s now 2/25/2024 and I will be receiving my inheritance possibly as soon as next week! This guy takes his job very seriously and gets results. Robert did everything he said he would do for me and much more.

Mr. Murillo was very instrumental in helping me to settle a business equipment lawsuit that involved my personal guarantee. Initially I defended myself as I thought the cost to hire a lawyer would have been prohibitive. As the case grew more complex, I reached out to Mr. Murillo who helped me understand the complexities of the case, and what I needed to do to settle the case without a judgment being awarded against me. His fees were reasonable and he went above and beyond what I expected, and genuinely took an interest in helping me. I would hire Mr. Murillo again if needed, and highly recommend his services.

I had to retain Colette after I was accused of assault. I had known her for over 20 years while she was a prosecutor and was already impressed with her objectiveness. She was extremely helpful in supporting me throughout a really difficult experience and was able to get the charge against me dismissed. I would highly recommend her to anyone seeking highly qualified counsel. Thank you for your good work!!!!!!

What Questions Should I Ask Before Hiring a Lawyer?

Hiring the right lawyer is crucial for the success of your case. Here are some important questions to ask during your initial consultation:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. Who will be handling my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Boulder, Colorado?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
