Mark Johnson represented me in a very serious criminal case with the potential for me to receive a sentence of 10-30 years in prison. I am happily enjoying my freedom as I finish my probation. Mr. Johnson charges fairly and genuinely cares about his clients. He continued to assist me and my civil attorneys even after the criminal case-at no cost to me. I highly recommend him to represent you. Contact him to see to see if he can help in your situation

Mark Johnson is not only an excellent attorney he is also a good man. He educated me thru the entire process from receiving a federal grand jury subpoena all the way to trial. We dug in and fought the government all the way and let me tell you it was not easy. When faced with a situation like this you and your attorney need to be able to focus and stay focused. Mark got to know our case inside and out. When we finally got to trial he was well prepared and had me as prepared as possible to sit as a defendant in the federal court system. He not only allowed but encouraged me to participate in the defense of my case. When I had a thought or suggestion he listened as though I was a 30 year veteran in criminal defense. After 30 months of brutal hell my life returned to normal with a not guilty verdict. I can tell you this, I hope I never have to experience any thing like this again, but should myself or any of my loved ones need a top shelf criminal defense attorney I know who I will call. When you absolutely positively have to win, call Mark Johnson.

I had to retain Colette after I was accused of assault. I had known her for over 20 years while she was a prosecutor and was already impressed with her objectiveness. She was extremely helpful in supporting me throughout a really difficult experience and was able to get the charge against me dismissed. I would highly recommend her to anyone seeking highly qualified counsel. Thank you for your good work!!!!!!

I contacted Bob after sustaining an injury on private property. Not having a prior need for legal representation I did a web search and chose three names. My plan was to use the advertised free consultation with each and then choose. My first meeting was with Bob and a second was not needed. Every meeting was friendly and informative. As a result of that friendly demeanor Bob was able to achieve a great settlement for me.

It was a pleasure to work with Bob Miller on my legal case. Bob treated me as a collaborative partner and provided options that allowed me to participate in decisions that affected the strategy of presenting my case in the best way. Bob Miller is a very accessible and helpful lawyer. I found myself talking to him directly the first time I called. He will follow up when he says he is available and he returns all calls. His down to earth counsel and quiet demeanor allowed me to focus and make an excellent decision in my case. At the same time he makes sure that he offers all options and because of his experience he knows his profession well. I immediately felt I could trust and respect this person. He was helping me figure out what to do in my situation. My experience with Mr. Miller is that I feel that his advice and counsel is ethically sound. As with anything it is important to find the attorney that works well with you. Mr. Miller understood my case and he was clear about my choices. It was necessary for me as a client to understand that I had options in taking on something as stressful as a lawsuit. I had no experience with any lawyers in Boulder, Colorado and it was very useful to see Mr. Millers AVVO rating. I highly recommend him from the professional help and generous advice he gave to me.

Lee Strickler represented me in a nasty divorce with factors including high income, business ownership, multiple properties, and false accusations. She stood by me for the entire nine year maintenance agreement where I needed her assistance from time to time. With all the cases she has, she never forgot mine. At the end of the maintence agreement my ex tried to modify, and as always, Lee was on it, strong, on point, knew Colorado law and applicable case law, and we had a favorable outcome, meaning it's over! I highly recommend her and if I had to do it again I would not consider any lawyer but Lee.

I’ll never be able to say thank you enough to Lee and her team for everything that they did for me during my divorce. Her level of expertise in the family courts is unmatched and is complimented by the couple of amazing attorney she surrounds herself with. I never questioned her judgment or direction, she had my complete trust. My divorce involved children and parenting time as well as maintenance and protection orders. My case required numerous court appearances, of which Lee timely attended all of. She tactfully advocated with my best interests in mind and those of my children. I’m quite certain the outcome would’ve been far different had I not had Lee in my corner. For a period of time I put my livelihood in the hands of Lee Strickler, and I will forever be grateful that I did.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Boulder, Colorado?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
