Lauren helped my husband and me during my permanent residency application process. She made everything much easier for us, we couldn’t handle it on our own. Lauren was a great attorney to work with. She kept us updated on our progress, and she was always there for us to help and answer questions. Lauren was so professional; she filed everything on time, provided everything they needed, completed each stage without an issue, and brought us success in receiving my green card. We didn’t have to worry about anything because we were so confident in her representation in our case. Thank you, Lauren, for being a great person! I appreciate your dedication to helping and guiding immigrants in the United States.

Lauren is the best lawyer hands down! She took my case since day one, answered all my questions, guided me through the immigration process, very responsible, honest and reliable. I have nothing, but good things to say. If you are looking for someone to handle your case, she is the one! Thank you thank you :)

What a God-send Lauren McGee was to our process. She was always in communication, very attentive, didn't waste our time, worked through the difficult moments, and took a case that others had turned down. I was a little uneasy since she was in Colorado and we were needing to cross at Tijuana. However, that never became a problem. She even came to the final interview scheduled in San Diego for very little expense. In the end, SUCCESS which equals a green card, was my husband's reward!! Thank you for your understanding of the process, your encouragement over every hurdle, being honest when needed, and not giving up on us even to the bitter end! If you're looking for a great immigration attorney, be sure to see if Lauren has an open space for you! I promise, you won't regret it!!

After being dropped badly by our previous company due to their capacity capabilities, my wife and I were incredibly disheartened. We had no idea they had done us a huge favor as we were immediately introduced to Lauren. Although away with her family for the Labor Day weekend - she phoned us on Saturday to discuss our case, where we were, and what the path forward with her would be. The Immigration process is stressful without administrations making changes, so when things kept changing, Lauren did a brilliant job of explaining clearly what it meant and what further actions would be needed. We felt extremely grateful to have her experience and guidance at every stage - none more so than prepping us for the immigration interview. I'm truly thankful we hired Lauren and had her by our side to navigate the process. She's worth her weight in gold.

Tosh did a great job analyzing the problem that I encountered when I filed my own taxes in an incorrect manner and gave me good advice about how to file an amended return and work through all the red tape.

I was so glad I called Tosh to represent me at my hearing, he basically walked me through the whole process and the outcome could not have been better, I’m going to do my best to not end up in front of a judge again but if I do I’m going to get Tosh to come with me, he really knows his way around a Courtroom.

I was involved in an auto/pedestrian accident in 2021. I was simply knocked down to the pavement in a parking lot. It didn't seem like a "big deal" until I started to have some debilitating back pain. I just wasn't able to stand for any length of time, which was negatively affecting my everyday life. I contacted Jorgensen, Brownell & Pepin, P.C. about my case. Matthew Crowther, Esq. and his team handled my case, first getting a settlement from the driver's insurance company and then actually filing against my personal insurance company. It took some time, actually about three years, but Matthew was able to negotiate a six figure settlement for me. The fact that I deposited a six figure check into my bank account last week still hasn't actually sunk in. Matthew and his team did an amazing job for me and I would certainly give him my highest recommendation!

After battling 40 years of disease, my mother passed away at 68 years old. One year later, my father unexpectedly encountered a stroke and onset dementia. We were placed into a position of having to respond and plan at a pace almost unbearable. We were now the third generation requesting assistance from Anne Jorgensen in Medicaid and asset planning. She and her team navigated us down an unknown road with grace, promptness, kindness, and professionalism. I can't speak highly enough about the service we've been provided. My sincere thanks!

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. Who will be handling my case?

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Broomfield, Colorado?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
