“I am extremely pleased that I was able to locate attorney Arsenault to help me form my new Denver area small business earlier this year. I have had a lot of attorney interactions through my 30 years in corporate America and now small business America. John recommended a variety of corporate options and structures, we ultimately settled on a Colorado LLC. John was fast, provided all documents quickly, and not only answered all of my questions during the formation process, he had a very keen insight and suggested the route we ultimately decided. John also proposed other considerations for me including partnership related points, employment law considerations, and intellectual property rights to consider such as filing a trademark for my brand. I hope to work with John in the future as he provided a wealth of knowledge on options for my business. I hope to continue working with John into the future with my other business ventures!” I fully encourage and recommend John Arsenault to anyone looking for a great man and a great attorney!

By far, this is the best law firm I have ever used in my legal experiences. Amanda's professionalism and ability to navigate through very complicated civil issues was above and beyond. This attorney is tough, and dedicated to her clients; I absolutely recommend you choose this firm.

Working with Law Offices of Said Sharbini, has been pleasant from start to finish. I live in Florida had a couple of warrants that needed to be taken care of and Contacted a few lawyers there; a couple were a bit cheaper. Called Mr. Sharbini and we had a nice conversation. I was concerned he was a little bit more expensive than the others, but like he said, "You pay for what you get". I took the chance; I'm glad I did he got Amanda Borsman on my case she was able to get one settled the next day and took about two months to get the second one handled. During that time, her or the office, never left me waiting responded quickly and explained the law where I understood she was patient and listened to my concerns. I loved the results from both cases; even got a portion of my trust fund back. Very honest firm and Highly Recommend them.

Honestly, hiring Said was a better experience than I even hoped for. Not only did he keep my desired solution in mind when he took on my case, but he kept me informed of the process, timeline, and gave me post resolution factors to consider. Without hiring Said, I’m beyond certain that I would have been treated unfairly throughout my complaint process and I would not have been made whole.

Tosh did a great job analyzing the problem that I encountered when I filed my own taxes in an incorrect manner and gave me good advice about how to file an amended return and work through all the red tape.

I was so glad I called Tosh to represent me at my hearing, he basically walked me through the whole process and the outcome could not have been better, I’m going to do my best to not end up in front of a judge again but if I do I’m going to get Tosh to come with me, he really knows his way around a Courtroom.

Maile provided great counsel through an eviction matter with a difficult tenant. She and her team also prepared a very thorough lease document at a fair price. Maile had up to date knowledge of tenant law and will be my go to for any landlord/tenant legal matters from now on.

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Broomfield, Colorado?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
