It is such a shame to see a brand new mom being charged with a felony. She sleeps with her child on the first night home and instead of showing empathy, you charge her? Do you not think she is punishing herself every second for this accident? What is happening to this world? Anyone involved in this should really take a hard look at themselves. Shameful.

The district attorney refused to take a clear fraud case. A babysitter steals a check and writes herself a $1000 check forges a signature and the DA sees no clear case ??!?!!? That’s ridiculous. I’m no law expert but I think starting with forgery and larceny charges is a good place.

You can't actually get them; every time you type in anything, you get not a robot thing, and when you fail that, another thing, etc. You can't ever actually type in the thing that solves the question and gets you to their site...

I had a 30 min. free consultation with Vernon Ready about a week ago. I had questions regarding a contempt of court hearing for child support. He answered all my questions, was very concise, professional and friendly. I had called several other attorneys before I talked with Vernon and hands down he was the best. The other attorneys wouldn't answer several of my questions without "paying for their time" or asking me to retain them. As it turned out, Vernon actually suggested I probably wouldn't need an attorney for what I was doing. I will without a doubt hire him if there comes a time I need an attorney. Thank you, Vernon!!

Vern was outstanding. His professionalism and knowledge of the subject at hand was in my opinion unmatched. I believe he out lawyered the respondent in this case. When I asked him to minimize meeting appointments to keep costs down, I truly believe he did without insulting the integrity of the case or subject that needed attention or discussion. He is just a normal, regular guy that can relate to life's circumstances because of his own personal experiences. His customer service toward me and my desires or expectation were meet in every aspect. This review or recommendation almost seems to be good to be but I assure you, if you retain Vern to represent you, I am positive he will give it his undivided attention and will not waiver from truth.

I recently hired Kaitlin Spittel to represent me. She is an excellent attorney. Her intelligence and knowledge of the nuances of employment law is outstanding and was a lifesaver in my case. She was phenomenal in assisting me. I hope I never have to go down the road of hiring an attorney again, however if I do she will be the first one I call. Kaitlin, thank you for your hard work. You are an awesome attorney!

I have never had to retain a lawyer before, so I wasn't sure what the experience would be like. When I had my first meeting with Kaitlin she was very patient with me and listened to all my concerns. She was very upfront and told me what I could expect from her. She not only did what she said she would do, but did it in a timely manner. I would definitely recommend her to my friends and family.

Kaitlin was able to help me tremendously with my pending case. She consider how everything affected me, and made me felt. She touched all the bases. This was my first expirience with a lawyer, and she made it very easy. I would certainly go back to her again. Also, the reception Audrea was incredibly helpful. I had a small time frame to work with, and she made it possible. She also cared a great deal about making sure my case was heard, which was also very helpful. In the future if I couldn’t use Kaitlins services, I know Audrea would point me in the right direction of someone who would be able to help me.

Ryann is an incredible attorney. She is very thorough throughout her work and is also highly supportive throughout the entire process. Ryann knows the law inside and out and was able to stay the course during my proceedings despite unexpected challenges throughout my case. I highly recommend Ryann and her firm and know that she goes the extra mile for her clients and cares about the outcome of her cases. It is hard to put into words how grateful I am for everything she did for me and for my children. Because of her professionalism, experience, and ethics, I was able to move with my children and start a new life for all of us. Thank you Ryann!!!

  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. Who will be handling my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Centennial, Colorado?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
