I didn’t even want to give one star for her, but I had to in order to make a rating review. My wife and I were in a custody battle for her son, with her ex. She was appointed by the courts to be our Child Family Investigator (CFI). For a long time we tried to get ahold of her because we were told we had to pay her. We needed to find out how. Weeks later we get an email from her stating that she won’t speak with us until we pay and we would be in contempt of court. We were just trying to pay her. When she spoke with me privately, she almost implied that my wife was lying to me, by stating things that I already knew and asking if I knew about them. She also asked what I knew about my wife and her ex’s relationship. When I explained, she cut me off, stating this was about the child. So she continued on and asked about him. I told her of various times that my step son spoke with me about his concerns without me asking about them and without coaching. He said these things out of the blue. When I told her, I was told to be careful about what children say because they lie to get attention. In my head, I think she should consider his opinion (especially if it’s all about the child) because too many things go unheard and are too late to remedy after the fact when things go wrong. She included NONE of what he told me in her report. She was told by both my wife and I of abusive situations of which her ex committed, including a domestic violence (the one time he got caught). She dismissed them and in the report bunched them up as one incident, stating that it was NOT a pattern. She did not look at or consider any BLATANT and OBVIOUS evidence in front of her and seemed to not take any of it seriously, but it was serious stuff to the people it’s happening to. It’s like she did not want to even consider the fact that it was true, and it ABSOLUTELY was! My wife wrote an extensive report, at Kim’s request, and submitted evidence of various dangerous situations happening as far back as 2013. Our case was happening in 2018. I personally believe her to be a failure, and a disgrace to the Justice system itself, as she just wants the job done, and just wants to throw 50/50 out there regardless of individual circumstances so that her job can be done, and she doesn’t have to do any actual INVESTIGATION (as her title implies). We didn’t have a choice, she was appointed, but if you do have a choice DO NOT HIRE HER!!!! She WILL ONLY shoot for 50/50. EDITED AFTER MS. UTESCH’S RESPONSE. In lieu of Ms. Utesch’s response to my post, she has used very tactful rhetoric in her response to make it seem that I do not know what I’m talking about here. As I agree that I was not a party in her case, I was one of the witnesses that she had interviewed in the case, and I’m obviously my wife’s husband, so this is why I know the inner workings of what had transpired.

Stop here! You do not want this woman’s services! If you are looking for adequate legal representation turn around and find ANYONE ELSE to assist you in your case. Kimberly is a complete and utter unprofessional with total lack skill. She lacks integrity and ethics. She refuses to do her job until the last minute, requests other professionals to work outside of business hours and weekends in order to meet her own deadlines she put off to the last minute. She shows up to court late, unprepared and dressed sloppy. She refuses do a thorough investigation of anything as she is clearly looking to only accept top pay rates for little to no work. She disregards any other professionals opinion and takes her own to present in court as more credible than a medical professional. I would NEVER recommend this woman’s services to anyone. She is a complete disgrace to the judicial system. Save yourself the headache and money and find a real professional unlike like Kimberly.

Catherine Roberts was very direct and efficient. She was mostly responsive to my inquiries and thoughts even though most came out of my naivety about the process. Her paralegal is who I worked with for the details of my case. I am thankful to Ms. Roberts for all she did for me to get me to a happy ending!

Kim is a dedicated family law lawyer. She is a zealous advocate for her clients. She is also a wonderful mediator!

I used Kim on an ongoing custody case. I chose Kim over the big name big dollar firm because I felt she would be deeply involved in my case and what was best for my family. If you are looking for someone to attack, be wicked or unethical to the other side she is NOT the right person for you. If you are looking for someone with integrity to stick up for what is right, who puts the best interest of children first while taking the higher road I highly suggest you call Kim.

Kim Utesch put me right at ease. I was in the beginning of what turned out to be a very ugly, bitter custody battle with my child's Father. Kim was able to discuss the facts of my case and what my options were. I was confident in her ability to fight for my rights as a Mother. Kim remained calm, aggressive, and polite in all communications between myself and her, and the other party and their attorney. Kim is an excellent issue-spotter who has the necessary expertise to help her clients analyze the various issues in their case and reach a resolution. In the event a settlement is not possible, she has the courtroom skills required to take cases to trial and win.
