I was in a long term relationship which ended in a parting of our ways. Shortly after, I was surprised when I was served with a legal action of Dissolution of Common Law Marriage without Children. What constitutes a Common Law Marriage in the State of Colorado appears to be very ambiguous and unfortunately, as I later found out, much is left to the option of the presiding judge in the matter. I knew I needed help! I interviewed a number of lawyers seeking someone who had intimate knowledge of these Colorado laws, a ton of experience and a practical approach to representation. That is when I met Mrs. Laraway. From our first meeting it was apparent that she had all these qualities. Her confidence, wisdom and personality set me at ease immediately and I felt I was in good hands right away. She was very professional yet personable, companionate yet firm and took personal ownership of my trouble in her effort to leave no stone unturned in her quest to prevail in my matter. I have found that old adage of “the devil is in the details” to be especially true in the legal world. Opposing counsel’s word games and trickery persisted throughout my case and all the while Kathlyn was one step ahead, analyzing the development of my case and leading the charge confidently. Finally, my day in court came and Mrs. Laraway was ready. She had every facet and detail of my case memorized. She knew exactly when to use each one and also, when to stand down and let opposing counsel dig a hole for himself during his escalating desperate effort to convince the judge of his case, to no avail. In the Findings of Fact Conclusions of Law and Order the judge wrote repeatedly that Petitioner and her witnesses were found to be incredible while the Respondent and his witnesses were found to be creditable. I believe this was not by happenstance. I largely attribute the judge’s opinion to how the case was presented in court and over the period of time prior to that court date. I have found such subtleties matter when dealing with a legal action and can be the difference between prevailing, and not. Bottom Line – I hope you never find yourself in a like situation but if you do, I highly recommend calling Kathlyn Laraway at Smith Balicki Finn Laraway, LLC. She will get the job done right!

Will thoroughly defended my case, resulting in a reinstatement of my license and a court case dismissal.
