Fantastic law firm with excellent, knowledgeable attorneys. Julian Rosielle helped me with a traffic case in Teller County. He communicated with me every step of the way and got me a fantastic plea deal.

So recently, I had an unfortunate situation arise where I needed a lawyer regarding a family dispute involving young children. Unfortunately we couldn’t come to a resolution and I was forced to find a lawyer to represent me. The team at Kohn law, specifically Erica Bertini and Debbie are beyond amazing and represented me with stellar results! On the initial consultation, I knew they were who I wanted representing me! I was treated with the utmost respect and spoken with, not at or down to. When things were getting tight on time, they worked with me and helped me get through everything being stern but still considerate and respectful treating me as a person not just another client. We won the initial part of our battle with ease because I retained an amazing law firm with stellar lawyers who have amazing knowledge, expertise and experience! The paralegal, Debbie, was always professional, staying on the phone with me sometimes late to make sure she had all the information, documentation and details that they needed to proceed with my case. She was instrumental in making sure we had all our ducks in a row and worked with me every step of the way. Erica, my lawyer, worked feverishly ensuring a win for us. She made sure that I knew what was expected from me, always asking if I had any questions or concerns about anything. When I was frazzled and unsure what to do she helped calm me down and always reassured me. She was definitely a rock in my corner that always had an open ear and kind words of support. I’m not sure what they offer for legal counsel, advice or defense other than what they helped me with but I’m telling you right now that you’d be doing yourself a serious disservice by not contacting them and getting a consultation. They are knowledgeable, friendly and honest. You would not regret having the Kohn law firm in your corner representing you. Tell them I highly recommended them and good luck with your case. I couldn’t be happier knowing they represent me! prayed that God would help me through all of this and my prayers were definitely answered and I believe that part of those prayers being answered was finding the Kohn law firm! Give them a call, you’ll be glad you did!

My son had an issue where he needed a lawyer. he was fortunate enough to find the Kohn law firm. Erica, his lawyer, is absolutely amazing! She is very knowledgeable and worked very hard to help my son with his case. Debbie, his paralegal, was great! She would sit on the phone with my son sometimes late into the evening making sure he had everything needed and understood everything being asked! I really hope I never need a lawyer but if I do, I'll be calling the Kohn law firm. We are so thankful for them. If you ever need an amazing lawyer that will care about you and work hard to resolve your issues, call them, you'll be happy you did.

Geoffrey and his team were absolutely amazing! He took the time to explain everything to us and answered every question we had even the stupid ones. He responded to us in a timely manner and all the answers we got were directly from him. All emails and return calls came from him which was just great! He was also up front with everything we weren't left in the dark and let us know if something was changing. He has honestly made this process 100x easier and we are so thankful for it!

Mr. Atzbach came highly recommended by a friend. He definitely gets the job done in a very timely manner. Even though he made this process as smooth as he possibly could. I had a hard time dealing with having to file for bankruptcy, on top of loosing my husband. Mr. Atzbach was very understanding, patience and very sincere when speaking. No one ever think this will happen to them and when it does you don't who to turn too. I can assure you working with Mr. Atzback will be the best decision you could make when having to file for bankruptcy.

David and I had a brief conversation on the phone regarding my situation with Bank of America and a fraud claim which they refused to investigate properly or reimburse after denying my claim. David was quick to inform me of my rights per the FTC and consumer laws and what actions he would be able take against BoA to include treble 3x damages which would amount to over 10k with paid Attorney fees. David also knows several other Attorney's who are experts dealing with these type of cases and can refer you to other Attorney's in the state of Colorado, that may be able to help with Bankruptcy, Business law, Real estate and consumer law or If you feel a class action lawsuit is justified. David is an expert on planning and knows how the courts rule depending on the client's situation and he has over 25 years of experience of practiced law. I highly recommend you give him a call so that he can help you with your particular situation. I feel David provided more information with his free consultation than any big lawfirm would have provided, he is easy to talk too and he cares about your rights.

We had a complicated real estate matter, had hired an expensive and HORRIBLE attorney in town. We spent a fortune with him and zero progress made. Finally got smart, fired him, and luckily found David. He was able to resolve the matter within a few weeks! Don't hire anyone until you talk to David first, seriously.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Colorado Springs, Colorado?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
