First, I’m a member of Legal Shield. I’m also out of state but my case was in CO. Finally I’m deaf and require accommodations for this. When my whole family court ordeal started I was referred to the Skulborstad firm. Honestly I was clueless in the whole process. My attorney within a few weeks had taken a new job elsewhere and I was offered to either switch to a new firm to stay. I learned that staying would have me being represented by the namesake of the firm “Maren”. Reading her bio I came to find that she cared as much about paternal rights as she did maternal and this struck a chord. Needless to say my experience with Skulborstad was amazing. The opposition made mistakes and she caught em, they tried to play dirty and she called them out and actually got the judge to rebuke them. The whole time she was professional, ethical and compassionate and the end results was fair. Throughout the process she was able to work with my hearing loss accommodating me through interpreters and using technology without missing a beat. Making sure the courts were aware of my needs during hearings. This is critical for me. Men, if you need a family lawyer willing to listen and work for you! Skulborstad Legal group is your team. Ladies I’m sure you’ll get the same treatment. Overall this firm is amazing. I hope I never need to use them again but will gladly call them up if I need too and ABSOLUTELY REFER and RECOMMEND!!!

Bottom line- you can’t go wrong with Ms. Maren Skulborstad. She is positively the best. Why do I say this? I’ve hired Maren on three separate occasions to help with establishing a permanent parenting plan, defend requests to change the plan and most recently to enforce payment of child support and collect back child support. On every occasion Maren conducted herself professionally - not just with me- but with the opposing counsel as well. (Unlike many of her peers, Maren’s integrity is impeccable. She is well respected by the judges.) Maren usually thought of more than one way to approach my cases and would present each option to me with her recommendation, then give me the final choice of which direction I wanted to go. She has never steered me wrong. Furthermore- in every situation- Maren has had my child’s best interest in mind. This, to me, is the most important. Often in a divorce, emotions lead to poor decisions… Maren ensured emotions didn’t take over. It’s true- there were times when in a particular moment I may not have liked something Maren had to tell me… but that’s one of the things I loved about Maren. She always told me the truth- whether it was how the judge would perceive my case or how the law is written. She always told me straight and in lay person language. On one occasion I thought I’d save money by using a different attorney - and hired someone other than Maren. What a nightmare! Not only did the other attorney take FOREVER to respond to emails (Maren is prompt and communicates the status of your case regularly) - but it was clear that even after 20yrs this other atty did not have as strong of a command of family law as Maren. She lost me thousands of dollars and cost me even more. (I ended up hiring Maren to come in and clean up “the mess” as best she could.) Why hire Maren? She has integrity. She positively knows law. She will work incredibly hard for you. She does the job right the first time- and doesn’t draw things out. She is passionate about law… and even more passionate about families. Truly- I will never hire a different attorney again.

I cannot emphasize how amazing Maren is, an excellent lawyer and as the title suggests; she is simply the best. She successfully organized immediate phone calls, and emails. She was responsive with all communication, and was a great listener on a personal level especially when it pertained to my case/concerns. My opinions were valued, and my doubts were always reassured. Maren and her legal team went above and beyond to assist me with my custody case. Her advice was firm, reasonable, and professional. Anyone who is reading this review, please note that my little girl is my world and anyone who thinks the same way, I would highly recommend her. Maren was my lawyer back in 2015. She helped me through a nasty divorce to a narcissistic man. She gave me confidence to keep going and without her team backing me up, I would have crumbled. They were understanding of my situation and helped me every step of the way .

This is the right attorney for you! Maren and her team will take care of you in every way necessary! I was very frustrated and being taken advantage of by a crazy spouse. Maren Skulborstad represents integrity, diligence, objectivity, patience and excellent communication skills. She demonstrated skilled document preparation which the judge appreciated and her experience showed in the courtroom. Her professionalism was self-evident, she spoke in a clear concise manner and used her time well considering the restraints of the court. We were able to expose the unscrupulous behaviour of the petitioner and were very satisfied with the outcome. When I first met Maren I was attempting to handle my divorce "per se", but my ex's attorney's was not wanting to negotiate in a good faith manner. I hired Maren initially on a "limited scope representation" basis, she kept me on track and reviewed the documents I had to submit to the courts. We ended up going to court(I then hired Maren to handle my full case) and my ex's attorney, would tell anyone who would listen, that she taught three law classes at a local university.  If she was trying to intimidate Maren it did not work, inside the courtroom Maren took my ex's attorney to task, and the judge awarded me my legal share of our home's equity and had the amount of time I had to pay alimony cut in half.  My ex's attorney had convinced my ex she was entitled to 100 percent of our home's equity and 400 percent of the alimony that was due to her, neither happened. I find myself fortunate that I was able to find such fantastic representation, I highly recommend Maren's services.

After a long marriage and deciding to divorce, I was struggling with how to proceed fairly and find a balanced resolution of finances, etc. Maren was very good at explaining my options and helping me decide which to choose, and sometimes gave me a good "dope slap" to think differently about my rights and not just be kind to my ex! The final results worked out very well.

Skulborstad Law firm is amazing! I experienced trustworthiness, great communication through entire case and results that I wanted! Attention to deadlines were always met! Maren was very good at explaining law and facts so I could clearly understand what was and would be happening through entire process. I would highly recommend Maren to anyone!

Not only did Maren take care of my children’s custody she took care of me. She was and is always available to talk when I need advice, and always put my children’s and my best interest first. She is a wonderful caring person and I would recommend her to anyone going through a divorce.

I retained Maren to handle my real estate transaction. I made an offer that was accepted. I later learned the seller accepted a second offer within 3 mins of accepting mine. The seller wanted to brush me off and go away. In the end, Maren was successful in resolving the messy, time sensitive transaction without going to court. I got the house of my dreams! Maren is professional, knowledgeable and easy to reach. I would highly recommend her.

Ms. Skulborstad was recommended to me when my ex hired a lawyer for the divorce case. She was great at navigating all the legal matters involved with the divorce. My ex's lawyer was would not agree on anything and ended up taking us to court. Ms Skulborstad was stellar in the courtroom and used all her tools to win our case.
