Mr. Karnes took care of everything in this case. While I was worried about not doing anything other than what Mr. Karnes had instructed me to do, I had nothing to worry about since he handled it all. From fearing the worst to breathing easily, I am happy to have Mr. Karnes represent me in court and I highly recommend others do the same if they wish rest easy.

First, I’ll say that I put my faith in the Lord. I believe Keith and the team did a phenomenal job. I’ll say that aside from the details of the case, and lawyer talk, that he is a decent person before anything. He would lend an ear when I needed it. He would work even when he shouldn’t have (vacation). I believe his commitment to his clients is second to none! His attention to detail is commendable. He is a true professional in every sense of the word. Keith and his team helped this father keep his little girl in Colorado with him and win our case! I have nothing but positive things to say about these folks! Thank you Keith, Kris, Lynette, Abby and the rest of the team.

Keith Karnes with Peak Partners Lawfirm is great. I’ve known him from the time he was a prosecutor at the Pueblo County DA’s Office to when he went into private practice several years ago. I just hired him as my lawyer in an ongoing custody dispute I was going through. It had been a tough road and Keith was there by phone or email whenever I needed and answered all my questions and addressed all my concerns with respect and knowledge of the law. I will use him for the rest of my life and I do highly recommend him as a great lawyer and someone that will fight for the little man to get justice and a deposition that you’re fighting for. Thanks Keith and Peak Partners Law Firm.

Keith is the definition of a true professional and advocate for his clients. I was very nervous when trying to find an attorney for my divorce. Even though I am an attorney myself, I knew that I needed someone to advocate on my behalf, without the emotions that might cause rash decisions. I knew within just a few minutes of the consultation with Keith that he was the best attorney for me. He was extremely professional and very competent in his work. That same professionalism and competency remained throughout the representation. Keith knew when it was time to fight for something and when it was time to meet in the middle. Even in such a stressful time in my life, Keith made sure that I was always well informed and he gave me counsel on what was in my best interests. This calm demeanor truly allowed me to make informed decisions, without letting emotions get in the way. I greatly appreciated how often he communicated with me and kept me up to date on everything in the case. There was never a single moment throughout the representation where I was left guessing on what was going on. The same goes for any questions that I had throughout the process, his response time was swift and accurate. Although going through a divorce is never a fun time, Keith made it as smooth as a process as possible. I know that he advocated constantly for my best interests, and was successful in achieving those. I cannot recommend Keith and his team enough. Thank you for getting me through this, I can say that I not only had an attorney, but also a friend.

Keith is by far the best lawyer I have worked with, and I have worked with a few in my life. His professionalism, expertise and willingness towards his field is unmatched. He isn't one to gouge another of pricing or give false hopes and promises. He is very witty and very accurate at initiating anything that needs to be done. I 10/10 recommend him to anybody that's needing a lawyer. He is going to continue to be my lawyer and I have plenty of people to recommend for him.

Geoffrey and his team were absolutely amazing! He took the time to explain everything to us and answered every question we had even the stupid ones. He responded to us in a timely manner and all the answers we got were directly from him. All emails and return calls came from him which was just great! He was also up front with everything we weren't left in the dark and let us know if something was changing. He has honestly made this process 100x easier and we are so thankful for it!

Mr. Atzbach came highly recommended by a friend. He definitely gets the job done in a very timely manner. Even though he made this process as smooth as he possibly could. I had a hard time dealing with having to file for bankruptcy, on top of loosing my husband. Mr. Atzbach was very understanding, patience and very sincere when speaking. No one ever think this will happen to them and when it does you don't who to turn too. I can assure you working with Mr. Atzback will be the best decision you could make when having to file for bankruptcy.

David and I had a brief conversation on the phone regarding my situation with Bank of America and a fraud claim which they refused to investigate properly or reimburse after denying my claim. David was quick to inform me of my rights per the FTC and consumer laws and what actions he would be able take against BoA to include treble 3x damages which would amount to over 10k with paid Attorney fees. David also knows several other Attorney's who are experts dealing with these type of cases and can refer you to other Attorney's in the state of Colorado, that may be able to help with Bankruptcy, Business law, Real estate and consumer law or If you feel a class action lawsuit is justified. David is an expert on planning and knows how the courts rule depending on the client's situation and he has over 25 years of experience of practiced law. I highly recommend you give him a call so that he can help you with your particular situation. I feel David provided more information with his free consultation than any big lawfirm would have provided, he is easy to talk too and he cares about your rights.

We had a complicated real estate matter, had hired an expensive and HORRIBLE attorney in town. We spent a fortune with him and zero progress made. Finally got smart, fired him, and luckily found David. He was able to resolve the matter within a few weeks! Don't hire anyone until you talk to David first, seriously.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Colorado Springs, Colorado?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
