I hired Ross Koplin for a DMV hearing in which my license had been suspended because his website at the time claimed that he provided aggressive, expert representation. I paid him $1000 to represent me on none of the things he claimed were true, and I would have been better walking in by myself. Here is an email I sent to him afterwards: Hello Ross, After dicussing with my wife the things that occured from the time I initially spoke to you Friday afternoon to the final decision made by the hearing officer, we have concluded that you did not hold up to the services that you make claim to on your webpage. On your webpage it states : "His areas of expertise include all Colorado traffic violation matters. You led me to believe that DMV would be sympathetic to the fact that I am prior military, they were not, and that they could change the date of the license suspension so that my citation would not show that I was driving with a suspended license. This however was not the case and it only applied if the DMV was found to be at fault for informing people of suspended licenses. The Hearing Officer also had to tell you that "you should know that anything you say cannot be submitted as evidence" in support of me. I also feel that you did not represent me as "aggressively" as your webpage claims. Furthermore it has come to my attention that you withheld information concerning the DMV hearing that would have informed me better about whether or not to hire you and that after the hearing you did not want anyone to hear the discussion you and I had after losing the appeal for my license in so that no one would recognize you if they were to hire you in the future. I believe you played on my desperation to get my license reinstated, and my naiveness in order to collect a paycheck. I do not want you to come away from this unpaid, but I do not believe you deserve the full $1000.00 payment. Therefore, before I begin submitting my complaints to the Better Buisness Bureau, I am giving you the oppurtunity to reimburesed me $500 of what I paid to you. I believe that reasonably fair deal. Ross never responded back to this email, and has since than changed his website. However I have his original website bookmarked on my phone.
