You will not find a better lawyer than Doug Cohen. My family retained Doug after wasting lots of time and money on another lawyer that got no results. A member of my family, who is a wonderful mother to three young children, was charged with some very serious charges. She was facing consequences that would impact her and her family for life. Her career, schooling, ability to parent, and even her relationship with her kids was in jeopardy. After her initial consultation with Doug it was obvious that he was the lawyer for her. He showed a genuine interest in her case and went above and beyond the expectations of even the most skilled and professional lawyer. He didn’t just want to know the details of the case; rather, he cared so much about her family that he wanted to find the root problem. This resulted in bringing to light other issues that her family could work on. Doug continued to fight relentlessly throughout the case. He compiled a game plan that he turned what was a “no-offer” case with the prior lawyer into a favorable plea deal. The DA was adamant at not offering a plea, however, this didn’t stop Doug from trying. He checked up on the family member to make sure she was doing all the things she needed to do, giving her constant reminders, and being there for mental and emotional support. Although I was not technically his client, with the family member’s permission he made sure I was updated about what was going on in the case. Even the prosecutor himself was impressed with all of Doug’s and my family member’s hard work and effort. So much so, that the prosecutor offered her a plea-deal after Doug sent him a well-put together packet of convincing information and what Doug had her accomplish to work on her issues. My family member and I are very happy with the outcome of the case. This was a very stressful and scary time for the family. But when you have someone like Doug, fighting hard for you every step of the ways, the fear and stress is overpowered by a sense of, “everything’s going to be all right.” After sentencing, Doug –although his work was done per our agreement – walked with the family to the probation office and helped us with all the paperwork. To this day, he is in touch with the family member’s probation office, making sure they know all the mitigating circumstances of the case. We truly are going to miss working with Doug. He really makes you feel like family. Thank you Doug, and all the staff at Peak Legal Services, for everything you have done for our family!

My father and I retained Mr. Doug Cohen's legal services on or about March 10th, 2017 in regards to a criminal case in which the defendant was incarcerated. Mr. Cohen not only failed to communicate with the defendant efficiently, but also withdrew his services the evening before sentencing- leaving the defendant helpless and without legal council on the most pertinent day of his case. Mr. Cohen is unbelievably rude, condescending, and just downright unbearable. As an attorney, his job is to represent his clients to the best of his ability, and to answer questions for scared (authorized) family members- yet every time I asked Mr. Cohen a question, he came back to me with an attitude and made me feel that I should already know the answer and that I was wasting his time by asking said questions. In fact, I'm wondering if he avoided my questions based on his lack of knowledge of the law. Do yourself a favor and go find another lawyer. Mr. Cohen's representation (or lack thereof) is not worth the money he charges. You can easily find a better lawyer who will actually listen to your questions and concerns- just as we were forced to do. I would caution anyone who is considering obtaining this law firm. If you do obtain his services, I hope that you experience with Mr. Cohen is much more fruitful than ours.
