I lost my job and was hit with huge medical bills due to covid. I was about to get evicted when I started reading about bankruptcy. Adam and Denver Bankruptcy Relief saved me from living in my car. I didn't have to do much but a few phone interviews, fax some paperwork and do a phone hearing because the courts were only doing phone hearings. I got out of debt for 500 dollars and I am here to say Adam was kind and cared about my situation and was literally someone who saved my life. The staff there at Denver Bankruptcy Relief was so helpful and Adam always answered emails and calls right away. If you're like the rest of us in a heap of trouble and trying to figure out how to escape debt at this crisis time, i say call Adam at Denver Bankruptcy Relief. The nightmare of debt will be over quickly and painlessly.

I hired Mr. Tirella at Denver Bankruptcy Relief to file my chapter 7 Bankruptcy. He was laid back but seemed to know all the complexities of the law. I felt like he responded to my emails and calls within a day and was with me every step of the way. I can say I received excellent service and representation and was able to conduct a good amount of the process over email. My only complaint is that I had to find two years of tax returns which i initially thought was annoying. It turns out those are required for the court. All in all, he's a very good lawyer.

I got into trouble with the IRS. With their fees and penalties, the amount they wanted was over 80,000$. I tried an offer in compromise but the IRS was not helpful with that. I made an appointment with Mr. Tirella and Denver Bankruptcy relief. Mr. Tirella explained to me that in a chapter 13, the only tax I would owe the IRS was the basic tax debt and not any fees interest or penalties. I ended up owing a very small amount and was able to pay it off over 5 years in the chapter 13. I got my life back in order and thank Mr. Tirella for his hard work.

Mr. Tirella filed two bankruptcies for me in the past several years. Both went very well. The second time around, my car was repoed. Mr. Tirella was able to file my case quickly enough to regain possession of the vehicle, which was needed for me to stay employed. I have no complaints and think he's a great lawyer. Thank you Mr. Tirella and thank you Denver Bankruptcy Releif.

I was so delinquent on my first mortgage payments I had no choice but to file a chapter 13. A friend of a friend referred me to Mr. Tirella after I called some of the larger firms in Denver and didn't like what I was hearing from them. The consults were always very short and some of them were pretentious and rude, asking for 2,000 dollars upfront for a chapter 13 and not giving me the time of day til I paid them. On the other hand, I liked that Mr. Tirella did not allow his paralegal to give legal advice or even discuss my case. And the phone consult was so thorough I learned a ton about my case. Mr. Tirella never pushed me to pay him and instead just treated me like a friend he was giving honest advice to.. Mr. Tirella was able to simply get rid of my second mortgage in my chapter 13 case. The other lawyers I called didn't even mention this possibility. I'm still amazed at the level of understanding of bankruptcy Mr. Tirella has. If you're seriously behind on your first mortgage and have a second mortgage, call Mr. Tirella for his help.

My daughter suffered a serious head injury because of a company’s negligence. I wanted the best representation I could find for her and I was happy we found Chris. He kept us well informed and fought hard to get my daughter an excellent settlement. I would trust him with any of my family or friends and would recommend him anytime.

When I was hurt, I was only seventeen and did not understand anything about making an injury claim. Mr. Hoffman was patient and answered all of my questions. At first, the insurance company said they wouldn’t pay anything. But Mr. Hoffman did a great job of proving my case and getting me a great settlement so I could pay my bills and have money for my future. He changed my life. He’s the best.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Denver, Colorado?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
