I hired Spencer Kotnik to represent me in a disability lawsuit. Unfortunately, my experience with him was extremely negative. He seemed uninterested in my case and spent significant time rambling during our meetings. Despite multiple requests, he failed to improve his communication skills, which was particularly frustrating given my own disability. I no longer trusted Spencer or his firm, so I consulted with another Denver lawyer who took the time to review everything exchanged during the process. She encouraged me to ask Spencer specific questions, which he ignored until two days before my deadline. Austin Cohen was an invaluable resource and guide during a difficult time. My wife and I had mostly separate finances, each building assets in our own way, with a combined estate of more than $10 million. I didn’t realize how the courts would view this (as marital property), and that dividing it would require complex valuations and backward-looking snapshots that would be hard to find or create. It felt invasive, and more complicated than I had imagined. When I called Austin, he immediately reassured me and explained the divorce process.
