Pros
1
Compassionate and supportive legal representation
“My experience with Ms. Gray and her team was with compassion, support, excellent coordination of everything and I knew I could rest assured knowing they were working on my behalf.”
2
Excellent communication and responsiveness
“Anytime there were new developments she contacted me and provided guidance. She worked diligently each step of the way and responded instantly to the insurance adjuster.”
3
Thorough and knowledgeable approach
“She was very thorough with all of her communications and research; we were so comforted by the fact that she was always one step ahead and always prepared.”
4
Genuine care for clients
“She's also provided terrific referrals where appropriate on small business matters. The responsiveness has been really great given some of the situations were stressful. It was really helpful to have such an open line of communication and it showed that she cared about her client.”
5
Successful case outcomes
“Ms. Gray is great attorney, she got my case settled for the maximum amount allowed and she did it in just a few months.”
Cons
1
Unprofessional handling of a potential client
“I definitely feel as though Natalie Gray led me to believe that their firm had taken the case and that she would represent me and then she sent the "you're fired" letter via email and wouldn't return my call. Very unprofessional for a professional.”
2
Concerns about padding of fees and incompetent representation
“They padded our case (and billing) with incompetent, loaf lawyers and charged for unauthorized work. One of their inexperienced, newbie attorneys attended meetings for no reason other than to pad fees, (mis)stated and exaggerated a legal position pivotal to our case.”

Natalie was amazing she did all the moving parts all I had to do was goto the doctors and send her a few documents from them She made the process pretty easy and painless for me it took 12 months for everything to be settled but overall a great success and relatively pretty quick to some other cases! I completely 100% recommend to anyone dealing with a car accident situation to reach out to her for her personalization and hard effort for her clients best results Thank you

When our insurance company denied coverage on our totaled vehicle, Natalie went to bat for us and overturned their decision! She is knowledgeable in Colorado laws that protected us. She was so compassionate and helpful representing us. A trusted gem to work with in a sea of personal injury attorneys.

Natalie walked me through every single step in my case and got me a higher payout than I ever would have expected. She took the time to truly understand how my accident affected me, and I’m so grateful for her diligence and tenacity.

DISREGARD THE FAKE 5-STAR RATINGS! Using CKBR was the worst decision me and my company ever made. They padded our case (and billing) with incompetent, loaf lawyers and charged for unauthorized work. One of their inexperienced, newbie attorneys attended meetings for no reason other than to pad fees, (mis)stated and exaggerated a legal position pivotal to our case. The lead attorney was borderline infirm and could barely track meetings (in-person or by phone) and would often arrive late, disheveled, and distracted by his Apple watch. CKBR talks big, bills big, but delivers small. They encouraged legal action against every party, but as our case progressed it was evident, CKBR would be the only beneficiary. We (and you) were a cash cow for their struggling firm, but too far along to halt the case. (Thankfully Google reviews can help others from suffering a similar fate.) Certain attorneys from this firm should be disbarred and reported to the bar association. There is a reason they downsized their offices—their incompetence proceeds them!

My wife and I had a great experience with Sarah. We decided to develop our estate plan right before (and after) the birth of our first child. Sarah was extremely professional, while also displaying a high level of patience with us. I would highly recommend her services.

My daughter suffered a serious head injury because of a company’s negligence. I wanted the best representation I could find for her and I was happy we found Chris. He kept us well informed and fought hard to get my daughter an excellent settlement. I would trust him with any of my family or friends and would recommend him anytime.

When I was hurt, I was only seventeen and did not understand anything about making an injury claim. Mr. Hoffman was patient and answered all of my questions. At first, the insurance company said they wouldn’t pay anything. But Mr. Hoffman did a great job of proving my case and getting me a great settlement so I could pay my bills and have money for my future. He changed my life. He’s the best.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Denver, Colorado?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
