This was my first time consulting with a tax attorney and it was certainly not as painful as I feared. Tom provided me excellent advice for my complex tax situation which may help pull my business back from the brink.

Boxelder did competent work in terms of our tax returns (2 s-corps and 1 personal as well as 2 amended returns), but their communication was very frustrating. I wish I would have paid less attention to the positive reviews here on Google and instead focused on their responses to the negative reviews. There is absolutely no accountability on their part. There are certainly situations where the client bears some responsibility, and that was the case to an extent in my situation as well, but the finger-pointing in the other negative reviews is very telling and representative of what I experienced working with them.

If I could give this company zero stars, I absolutely would. Their negligence nearly costed me my company, and due to my new circumstances of providing for my family singlehandedly, they almost cost me my entire livelihood. If you are considering working with Boxelder, I would strongly advise to look into at least three other companies before committing. I wish I would have done more research, but unfortunately, in my desperation to keep my business and continue to provide for my daughters, I unknowingly let this company take the utmost advantage of me. I worked with Boxelder in early 2022 while I was dealing with tax issues in my LLC. Tom Conrad was recommended to me because I was a newly single father and was struggling to repair some tax issues regarding my business. Mr. Conrad took advantage of me being in a desperate position and was willing to charge me for things without consulting me about the fees he claimed were necessary. Boxelder is willing to overcharge and provide misleading information. They exhausted a $7,000 retainer without informing me about it. Due to their outsourcing of bookkeepers, I rarely worked with the same person twice. Tom Conrad fired three people, that I know of, just in the time I was working with him. Their communication was late and they were not doing a thorough enough job to be making any sort of progress. My tax books were so corrupt that it took another company days to sort through and start from scratch. Not to mention, the fees for the bookkeeping are triple what other companies charge for the exact same, if not better, work. Their hourly rates are outrageous, and they find any gaps you leave open to stick a fee and they tell you that they discussed these fees with you initially, even though they are very careful not to elaborate on the extent of some of these fees. They tried to charge me $12,000 for the “work” they did, and I was left in a worse situation than I was in when I went to Boxelder for their help. Let me remind you, we had previously agreed on a $7,000 retainer. I know that Boxelder will be working on a response as soon as they read this review, and they will pull up case records and claim that the information I have provided is false, and that they have the records to prove it. However, I also have plenty of records, and there is no excuse for their negligence or their willingness to take advantage of people who are in intense predicaments. Again, if you have taken the time to read this review, PLEASE look into different companies before you consider Boxelder to be the ones managing your taxes.

I want to give a huge shout out to Mason and Wendy with Boxelder Consulting!! This is my first year filing as an S-Corp and these two have been on top of everything! Their communication, knowledge, and overall experience is A+ There was many hiccups with my books and they have been ON IT! If you are looking for tax advice, bookkeeping, tax filing service, etc do not hesitate to reach out to them!!!

In 2020 I had my taxes prepared by a local tax agency. There were questions that the tax preparer couldn’t figure out since I had a huge change in income, etc. in 2019. So the tax person wrote a letter explaining the situation and I mailed my taxes in February 2020. Then we went into lockdown due to Covid19. Fast forward to 1.5 years later, I get a letter from the IRS saying I owe over $18K for 2019 taxes. I was unable to resolve this with the IRS and the people who filled out my taxes. Enter Boxelder Consulting. I met with Tom and he felt confident that they could get to the bottom of my situation. He did not promise victory, but he promised to do his very best. They did my 2019 taxes again and I still owed a lot of money, but not as much. Recently, the IRS rejected their preparation of my taxes. Tom and Annette got on the phone with an IRS agent and worked a miracle. As it turns out, I don’t owe any back taxes and I’m getting a refund for 2019. Shut-the-front-door! Just slam it. Boxelder dug deep and pulled out a win for me. I cannot tell you how stressed I have been over this situation – loss of sleep, loss of hair, loss of appetite, depression, anxiety, panic attacks, etc. You get the picture. Who has $18K laying around? Certainly not me. I’m on disability and my income falls into the category of “impoverished” or broke af. Tom called me and told me the good news and when we got off the phone, I fell to my knees, in tears, thanking God for sending me to Boxelder, thanking God for Tom and his team, Annette and Mason. This massive burden has been lifted off my shoulders and I cannot thank Boxelder for going above and beyond and finding a way. No one should have to face the IRS giant alone. You may not win. But with Boxelder, you have a chance at victory or a plausible solution for everyone involved. Boxelder made the process easy for me. I gave them the information, we kept in touch, and they did their job! Trust me when I say that I have no words to express my appreciation, or my gratitude to Tom and his team at Boxelder. Many people facing similar situations think they can't afford a lawyer, but sometimes you can’t afford not to. If you believe that you are right, then lawyer up. At the very least, call Boxelder, and go in for a consultation. It doesn’t hurt to ask. Boxelder is an exemplary consulting law firm. They will put forth their best effort to get the results you deserve. They will make every effort to streamline the process and payment. To Tom and his team at Boxelder, especially Annette, I tip my hat to you and I am forever grateful for your help. You have no idea how much you have changed my life for the better.
