Michael Menghini represented me in a business partnership dispute and I truly believe no other attorney could have achieved a better and quicker outcome than he did. Michael has all the attributes of the consummate professional. My case was very complex and how fast he got up to speed in understanding was astounding. He did his homework. He is engaging, fearless, a good negotiator, mediator, and stands tall among seasoned attorneys. I was in good hands and, in the end, I realized that Michael not only takes his cases seriously, but he cares about his client. I not only would hire Mike again, but I would, and do, recommend him to anyone. Michael is listed in the Super Lawyers as as a "Rising Star." My opinion...he is already there.

I have had the pleasure of working with Mr. Menghini on several occasions regarding an assortment of subjects. The subjects have ranged from personal matters to that of my small business. He ensured I had the proper contracts in place and made sure my small business was set up in a way that would protect my personal assets. Additionally, he resolved disputes and claims against us along the way. Specifically, Mr. Menghini handled a large dispute on my behalf between myself and an ex co-owner of my company. Thanks in no small part to his hard work and aspiration to reach the most desirable outcome on my behalf; a potentially devastating situation concluded in a matter that left my company further protected. Mr. Menghini is always very personable and truly cares about his clients. The services I have received are second to none. He is meticulous, organized, and punctual. Mike’s dedication to his work goes beyond that of discipline; law is his passion. It’s clearly demonstrated in his knowledge and successes. Mike has upstanding written and interpersonal communication skills. He has mastered the fine art of explaining law in terms the average person can understand. Throughout the entire process I was assured. I always knew and understood our circumstances, as well as the possible outcomes. Mike is an intellectual, experienced and over all exceptional lawyer. I would recommend his services to anyone, especially those I care about.

Michael is head and shoulders above the many other lawyers I've worked with in the past. Things that impressed me: 1. Listened. 2. Clearly he carefully read the multiple documents. 3. He had a great INSIGHT into the issues, 4. gave me the best advice, even if it's not what I wanted to hear, and 5. helped resolve the situation and make sure I was happy with the plan. I've recommended michael to a number of my colleagues and friends, and plan to continue using him into the future. I have no qualms about giving my highest recommendation for menghini as your counsel and advocate.

I interviewed 4 other attorneys before choosing Laura and I’m so glad I chose her. She was honestly invested in my case and genuinely cared about the injustice I suffered. She fought to get me justice and was not afraid to go against a large corporation. Discrimination cases can be tricky but she is the perfect person to help you navigate them. I would 100% hire her again.

Laura made this experience stress free for my family and I. Hiring attorneys can be very stressful, but from the beginning, Laura expressed how much she believed in my case and I could tell how passionate she felt about my success. She made it such an easy process for me, knowing how busy I was with work and family. She went above and beyond my expectations. My family and I are truly grateful. I would hire her again in a heartbeat! Love, BC and Family ❤️

Being involved in a DUI hit and run is scary and difficult to navigate. A good friend of mine recommended I give the Travis family a call to discuss my case. I am so glad I did. Todd, Susan and Jordan were amazing. They walked me through the process step by step, and that all started with a telephone consult. They are like family to me, and if the need ever arises, I will seek out their expertise again. I even referred them to a family member, and she had just as good results. A friend and client, for life!!!!

  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. Who will be handling my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Englewood, Colorado?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
