Recommended by a colleague who had previously worked with him on other cases, Mr. Podboy would deliver beyond our expectations as a family. I could not have asked for better legal representation, at such a desperate hour. First impression at our first meeting would suck my family members & I in, leaving us to confidently conclude, Mr. Podboy had been God sent, an answered prayer. He was highly educated, professional, empathetic, attentive, intelligent, eloquent, knowledgeable, and just a natural at what he did. His analytical mind would right away lead him to conclude and believe that I had been wrongfully accused. He was angry, determined and unrestrained in vigorously coming to my defense and proving my innocence. It was a homicide case and he went to work immediately, with a passion that would leave no stone unturned in the discovery process of the case. His many years of experience working the system was illustrated with his knowledge and display of a wide range of resources, all at his fingertips; in terms of who, where, what, why, when and how. He was confident, well versed with the ins and outs of the law, and just a pro at what he did; and he was going to fight to the last tooth. He relentlessly hammered at the prosecuting team, putting them on the defensive. His brilliance allowed him to take risks in this case which he admitted to be risks, rarely taken in other cases, with the ultimate aim of winning, whatever it took. His principle was “the truth would set me free”, always reminding me that he was paid to worry, and not me. He was brutal in his negotiations, unrestrained, and would not settle for anything that would put a criminal taint on my record. He owned the courtroom, he was poised, & had a presence that commanded respect from his colleagues and all those around. Mr. Podboy is a very reliable professional, always very attentive to detail, very accessible and promptly returns all calls, in which all concerns are addressed, hence making one feel at ease, and reducing a mountain to a valley. It wasn’t just a job for him, he went above and beyond and did his work with so much integrity, that his fellow attorneys held him in high esteem too. He is very personable, and has a very spontaneous sense of humor. There was never a dull moment with him. Even through the tough times we were faced with, he found a way to make light of the situation while comforting and calming. I could sleep well at night knowing that my lawyer had my back. He fought so hard and tackled all the obstacles with class and dignity. He took time to understand me as a person and my big family as well. Looking for a criminal attorney who will fight effortlessly, Mr. Podboy is the guy for the job. On the scale of 1 to 10 I would say 110. He delivered on my case with a dismissal! I thank God for him. I highly and honestly recommend him.

Smart, firm, powerful, quick, and know how to represent his clients. I felt from the beginning when I first came to Ron Podboy for a criminal defense case. The charges that were alleged carried 10 year to life in prison. We knew the truth and never backed down to the pressure of a fight we knew was truth. Presenting the truth isn't always easy but without his hard work and representation I would not be here today to write this review. Not guilty on all charges even when I was being put to hang by the D.A. and the "victim". Take serious consideration when your life is on the line! Ron Podboy is my choice. He was worth every penny!

I hired Ron back in January when I was falsely accused of domestic violence in Jefferson County. He attended every one of my court cases with determination and poise to bring me Justice. He also represented me in a Denver case and helped me get it dismissed after again being falsely accused of violation of a restraining order. After over 7 months of hearings and continuances, we went to trial on August 22nd. After arguing my case in court over 8 hours of testimony and just over 2 hours of jury deliberation, the jury returned a Not Guilty verdict on all counts. Ron and his office secretary, Ciara, were both very sensitive and extremely attentive over the course of the last 7 months with regard to my case. Phone calls and emails were promptly returned and all of my questions were answered in a timely manner. Obviously the outcome was favorable in my case and justice was served but I would recommend to anyone who is looking for a solid defense attorney based on his attentiveness alone. With over 20 years of Experience, Ron knows the ins and outs of the Justice system and can properly advise his clients in their particular cases. I was referred to Ron by 3 different people and I am completely satisfied not only with the outcome of my case but also his attitude and demeanor towards me and my family over the last 7+ months.

I used Kim years ago during my child custody case regarding my then 5 year old son. A previous lawyer made a mess of my situation and I was on the verge of turning over custody to my son's father. Thankfully a good friend of mine recommended Kim . Kim is an angel. She helped me muster the strength and courage to fight! Kim was extremely prepared and also helped me be extremely prepared for court. The case turned out in my favor and the judge also awarded some attorney fees. I HIGHLY recommend Kim!

Kim represented me in a complicated post-divorce decree situation. Her work was outstanding. She was thorough, well-prepared and steadfast in working through my situation. She was supportive. She could be tough when necessary but did not need to prove her toughness by being unnecessarily contentious. She sought to contain costs. Her support staff and associate were personable, efficient, and professional.

Ms. Kryda's thoroughness, communication, and professionalism is unsurpassed. She assisted me with a very very difficult and trying probate issue. She wove a very calming thread though the train wreck that I was thrown into and was very successful in bringing the matters to the best possible outcome. I would highly recommend Ms. Kryda.

Mr. Parrish was very responsive and engaged when we sought his counsel in the area of Family Law. We found him to be passionate about our welfare - not just our legal welfare, but also our personal welfare. He is easy to talk with, listens intently and was more interested in our outcome, than in the potential fees he would earn. We would not hesitate to recommend him.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Golden, Colorado?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
