She isn't a personable person and her help was arrested for intro to contraband which says a lot about her character and the company she keeps.

Ms. Sedlak is an amazing attorney, she was very case oriented and did her job with precision and cares about her clients. I would highly recommend her to anyone.

She is very limited in her communication. She contacts you 10 min before your hearing after not speaking with you for weeks. She was on my case for 9 months and nothing progressed. I didn't realize I could change attorneys.

We've all heard the lawyer jokes but once you need a lawyer you will want to have Ms Sedlak on your side. My life was flipped upside down. I couldn't believe I was in my situation. I had a case where I had to hire an attorney. I interviewed with several before hiring Ms Sedlak. She is extremely knowledgeable with the law and courts. She is a fighter and will not back down. I did not have a appreciation for lawyers until I was in a situation where I needed one. I am extremely happy she was on my side. She is very respectful and gets the respect from the courts. Save your money and choose someone else to handle your divorce. Melanie Sedlak took two weeks to respond to my inquiry about how to handle taxes during our proceedings (the IRS doesn’t wait!) and had the nerve to call me 10 minutes before mediation to ask if I wanted her to be present. Of course when I showed up my ex was present with his attorney.... status conference post mediation I called in on time and the court was asking where my attorney was. I was told she was a total tough bulldog but I found little motivation or tough within her. She lazily told me the judge would likely half the debt and didn’t put any effort in. I canned her and got a different attorney.

I hired Melanie for my divorce. Her knowledge and strategies made my case a success. Ms. Sedlak has a great reputation with colleagues. She has a great knowledge of which courts and judges will get results. Melanie was recommended to myself by a good friend. In turn, I recommend Melanie to everyone. Ms. Sedlak claims to have a vast knowledge of the law and the practice of law. She further claims to be an excellent trial lawyer who learns material quickly and efficiently. Melanie represented me on a Class 5 Felony and the fee schedule for her retainer was $5000. Ms. Sedlak billed over $16000.00 in this case and was adequate at best. I was acquitted by a jury but only because I was actually not guilty of the charge, not because Ms. Sedlak was a great attorney. It appears from the number of hours billed that she is not a quick learner and had to review the same material on numerous occassions (billing for each hour in review) in order to be prepared for each task. If you have alot of money to blow, Ms. Sedlak is for you. If you are looking for superior talent at the price quoted, look elsewhere.
