Tanya has been an outstanding attorney and by far someone I will never forget. From the moment that I had my first consultation with her, she instantly put my troubled heart at ease with her calm, wise, and thoughtful counsel. Tanya always treated my case with kindness, understanding, and sensitivity, which was exactly what I needed during a time of heightened emotions and stress. Tanya has never ceased to be anything less than kind-hearted, compassionate, wise, understanding, trustworthy and incredibly intelligent throughout this entire process. I could go on and on! I was thoroughly blessed to have her in my corner because I knew that she was authentically fighting for me and my daughter. Tanya was so attentive to every detail related to my case, and because of that, I could ALWAYS trust Tanya to accurately say anything on my behalf to opposing counsel. Tanya is also so intelligent, she is such a quick thinker and always thoughtful while giving advice on the many tough decisions I had to face. Not to mention, her work ethic is outstanding, even while on maternity leave Tanya was still heavily involved throughout my case and I knew I could always call on her for anything. She never appeared shaken by the opposing counsel and always carried herself gracefully, and with such knowledge, authority, and confidence. Tanya feels like more than an attorney, she feels like a true friend, and because of this, I will NEVER forget her role in helping me settle this complicated case. While I would never wish family law litigation on anyone, I would highly recommend Tanya to anyone who needs legal representation in a family matter. God bless you, Tanya :)

Tanya is an absolutely excellent attorney who does not pull any punches. When a question is asked of her, a straight and easy to understand answer is given. Tanya's expertise in social work and the collaborative approach has given her an unmatchable ability to stick to the issues at hand and not waste time in needless argument. When senseless argument or unwarranted adversarial position is presented, Tanya quickly brings the situation back to reality. She has a mind that thinks far ahead which helps mitigate issues and keep some from opposition from happening at all. Tanya is a generous, helpful and caring individual with wonderful legal talent. The level that she cares for children and their true best interests is commendable and she is very successful at reminding the opposing party that anything else is unreasonable. Tanya is a trustworthy person and does not seek to bankrupt anyone financially or emotionally. Tanya has proven to be an excellent attorney who can acheive excellent results even when faced by opposition who would stop at nothing to lie, cheat or steal their way to a win. Tanya's representation proved ethical, fair, wise and tough which results in resolution instead of continued argument. Her reputation is excellent and she was able to point out details that proved the opposition was unreasonable and deceitful, proving her resolve and dedication. Confidence is well placed in Tanya's abilities and expertise. I would recommend her to anyone. The best interests and well being of my family has benefitted en masse due to Tanya's help.

Tanya treated me in a professional manner, and yet, throughout this ordeal, I knew she personally cared about me. I knew she was focused and experienced and hard working and knowledgeable. There were a couple of instances when she turned to others for information/opinions, which I respected. I compliment her for that. I liked knowing Tanya was one individual in a firm of many, with resources at her fingertips. That was comforting. I had complete faith in her, and she did an excellent job for me.

Tanya has represented me for the last two plus years. She is highly trustworthy, brilliant legal mind and cares for families. She is highly regarded within the courts and other professionals. She is calm, listens and steers me in the right direction. She loves my son and wants the best for him. She inspires me to stand up and do the right thing (BTW…it is worth it). She is very prepared on all levels. I recommend Tanya to my friends, family and colleagues.

I found myself a victim of roofing contractor that took my money and didn’t perform any work. County law enforcement was moving incredibly slow and I did not have strong confidence I was going to recover any of my money. I decided to hire Stuart Morse Law firm. I mostly worked with Greg on my case and I was immediately impressed with this law firm. This team of law was able to recover all the money the contractor stole from me and almost all the damages the roofing contractor created. The Stuart Morse Team did a great job! Thank you!

My family recently worked with Stuart D. Morse & Associates, LLC. It is not often that I am compelled to write a review but we felt very fortunate to have them represent us. The professionalism and communication was more than we could have asked for. Our direct contact was Gregory J. Theo. He was always there to answer questions and communicate with us on the progress of our case. I will definitely be referring your office in the future.

When I met Nathan Dowell, I knew immediately I would hire him to represent me. He has great communication skills and goes after what needs to be done. He and his paralegal, Karen Yurack, are quite the power team. Karen is very supportive, and they work in sync. You definitely want them on your side, as they went above and beyond to help.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Greenwood Village, Colorado?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
