Decided not to take my case without hearing anything about it because "they do not do Medical Malpractice". **EDIT** Recieved a phone call from Mr. Dan Caplis himself who stated he was unaware of his site stating his firm offered malpractice and that they were working to remedy it (pictured). Mr. Caplis was apologetic and listened to a quick rundown of my case... even offering to refer me to a malpractice attorney. After speaking with Mr. Caplis I can see why his firm is rated so well. He handled a complaint personally and very well professional, apologetic, helpful. I have no doubt Mr. Caplis would be either to help with your case or point you in the right direction. Call them.

GEORGINA and MELANIE are 2 beautiful ladies who were working on my case and did a terrific job of guiding me throughout this lawsuit. I am truly grateful and recommend Dan Capsli for anyone who is dealing with a car accident lawsuit. Thank you Dan Cap, Georgina and Melanie. You guys are the best.

Dan Caplis Law including Melissa Winthers & Gina Powell are absolutely amazing to say the least. They worked tirelessly on my case and became family. Days after my accident, Dan Caplis came to my house personally to meet with me. He is honest, trustworthy, compassionate, family oriented, and without-a-doubt truly cares about his clients. The same is to be said about Melissa Winthers and Gina Powell. Melissa became more than my attorney, she listened to me and supported me with any way she could; helping get appointments set up for acupuncture and other therapies. No matter what, they were there to support me and listen to me. I am forever grateful for these individuals and there is no one else I would have trusted! Also, before contacting Dan Caplis Law, I had talked to other law offices and lawyers. As soon as my dad & I spoke with Dan on the phone, it was a no brainer that we wanted him to take on my case. There isn’t a single lawyer out there that will work as hard for you as Dan, Melissa & Gina will like they did for me.

Mr. Laski was very informative in my case and helped walk me through the entire process of my case, he gave me detailed invoices on what and why I was being charged and also helped lower some of my costs on things I could do on my own which was very helpful. He spent a lot of time going over all the details of my case and got my charges lowered. I would definitely use him again if I needed legal representation.

Chris was excellent at reviewing the potential questions that may have come up in disposition. He had a lot of foresight about my personal injury case that I would never have thought about without his incredible attention to detail. Most importantly, he listens and thoughtfully responds to questions and concerns. I recommend him as a very diligent lawyer with a high degree of integrity for his clients' interests.

I hired Mr. Brovege after meeting with other lawyers for a workers comp claim. He was compassionate and concerned with my health. He presented a detailed outline of what to expect, timeline and experts I would meet with to resolve my claim and get my health back to normal. I was pleasantly surprised at how efficient and detailed oriented Mr. Brovege was. My claim was settled sooner than I expected. The health professionals Mr. Brovege recommended was superb. I have recommended Mr. Brovege to others with the same results. I have also used his expertise on other matters much to my satisfaction.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Greenwood Village, Colorado?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
