As soon as I fired her, I Found an attorney that believed in me and fought for my case of parental alienation against my ex. No thanks to Lisa frigo but another law practice, I now have a great relationship with my children and have joint decision making and have a normal relationship with my kids without mother's interference. Fight for what you believe in, and if an attorney says no I can't do this for you, find another attorney. I wasn't asking for anything unreasonable other than to be in my children's lives and stop mom from interfering.

Warning. Do not use this lawyer. She does not seem like she knows what she is doing. My sister used her for her family law case. In which she was a winner going in. She exhausted the entire retainer with emails, ignored all of my sister request and was not looking out for best interests of my sister and then walked away from her case a week before new trial with no warning, after she continued it out for her own personal issues. This lawyer seems un educated and incapable. My sister had a slam dunk family law case with a protection order. Once she hired Lisa her abuser continued to harass her and this lawyer did nothing but waste my sisters money then walk away when she needed her the most. She can't handle women who are abused or being abused. I will be warning all of my friends family and huge network of individuals stay away from this lawyer and firm. They did one over on my sister and now she left her in a lurch after she gave her all this money. This is one of those shady lawyers you stay away from warning. I will be telling my huge network. Save your money, hire someone else.

Ms. Frigo recently represented me in a dissolution of marriage involving a child case. Ms. Frigo was extremely attentive; even working on the weekends to address my case. Ms. Frigo as extremely responsive and I never waiting for more than a couple of hours before hearing from her when I had a question or concern. Ms. Frigo represented me extremely well in my permanency orders hearing and assisted me through the entire process. My gratitude to her and to Morgan Thompson is endless and I was truly satisfied with the service that I was provided with her and her firm. She exceeded my expectations.

Lisa is an excellent attorney! She was very responsive and reassuring in one of the worst moments of my life. Despite the false accusations of domestic violence Lisa was there throughout the whole process keeping me focused and hopeful. The charges were dropped with Lisa's assistance and I am forever grateful! I'd reccomend Lisa/The Burnham Law Firm for any criminal matter!

Since the beginning of my parenting time case Lisa has been attentive, thorough, patient, and considerate of how difficult the situation was. There were several frustrating nuances to this case that Lisa identified with which helped me set realistic expectations. I could ask her anything and never felt ignored or pandered to. It's one thing to feel like someone just represents you, and it's something very different when that person truly supports you. Lisa's efforts got me 50/50 parenting time with my son with an ideal parenting schedule and 50/50 decision-making. This was absolute best case scenario and I am so grateful. She has given me hope that Dad's absolutely do have rights, and I can not imagine where my son and I would be without her. Thank you forever for everything you have done for us!

When I met Nathan Dowell, I knew immediately I would hire him to represent me. He has great communication skills and goes after what needs to be done. He and his paralegal, Karen Yurack, are quite the power team. Karen is very supportive, and they work in sync. You definitely want them on your side, as they went above and beyond to help.

Kristin Weaver and Sarah Pisk were lifesavers for my family and I in the custody battle with my ex. They really took the time to understand my unique situation, and advocated for my children and I throughout my entire time working with them. I really appreciate their understanding and diligence throughout a tricky and stressful case. Would highly recommend them!

Spoke with Todd who understood my case immediately and was fantastic!! Met with Laurie Joe and she handled my difficult case with precision!! Listened and explained every action and knew what to do with professionalism and experience!! She made the other parties attorney look foolish and lazy and got the results I wanted. Hopefully won’t need them again-but if I do, I know who I am calling!!

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Greenwood Village, Colorado?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
