Armando Aguilar did not respond timely to me or to my attorney, but he repeatedly threatened legal action if I didn't respond to his requests in a prompt and timely matter (which he made virtually impossible to do).  He and his client hired a company to replace the shared sewer line in spite of our repeated requests to look at other, similarly priced companies with better online reviews.  Armando missed several meetings with my lawyer, and then said that he had tried to call so that he could cover his tracks for missing the scheduled meeting.  These missed meeting costs were then passed on to me, while the matter itself continued to go unresolved.  Avoid him at all costs. He's sleazy. It's also strange that there are no online reviews of them.  I'm guessing he'll try some kind of retribution for this review...

Taking a moment to reflect, I could not have been more fortunate to have found the guidence, professionalism and patience with Scott and his entire staff. Always helpful, kind and extremely valuable. He was hired by me from a recommendation from another friend and it was the best advice I was given in this entire process. Five Stars and Thank you Scott Baroway!

Scott was clear and concise with his information concerning the legal paperwork due with our divorce. We had two meetings with Scott, and they both went smoothly. He stated at the beginning what his fee would be and when everything was done, the fee was what he originally quoted.

We recently worked with Colton Craft at Davis Schilken to put together Wills and a Family Trust for my husband and I, along with the necessary healthcare and power of attorney documents. Colton was patient, detailed, professional, and efficient. We asked MANY questions, as did he, and feel like we came away with the right decisions. Our final binder was impressive and comprehensive. Everything was well explained, and Colton could not have been more pleasant to work with. I highly recommend Colton Craft if you are looking to make this long process very easy.

My dad's employer refused to provide his insurance benefits. I contacted Robert and he helped him through the process. He met with him right away so my dad did not lose his case because of time limitations. Robert walked him through the process, analyzed every aspect of his case and helped him win depite my employer fighting the claim. My dad received every dime he was entitled too from the insurance company. I would high recommend Robert Paysinger to anyone who has been injured in a car accident or at work.

Robert Paysinger helped me with a matter that required me to go to court. His preparation was second to none, and he made feel comfortable in court because I felt so well prepared. The Law Offices of Robert Paysinger created effective exhibits for trial that were very helpful in laying my case out, and was aggressive in pursuing my case. I know Mr. Paysinger has been helping injured people for over 30 years and I would highly recommend him if you have been injured in an auto accident and at work. This involved a matter in Jefferson County, Colorado

We had a difficult international tax issue relating to FBARs and Amanda took a morning with us to get it all sorted out at a fraction of the cost of three quotes from other law firms.

I was charged with conspiracy to defraud the United States Government and was looking at 3 – 5 years in Federal Prison. Attorney Amanda Boog Cruser represented me on my case and I couldn’t have chosen a better attorney. This whole process was, at times, difficult for me and very stressful. She was well prepared, thorough, convincing, and always accurate. She gathered character references from personal and business associates to show the judge my true character. Her portrayal of me and what I went through was helpful in my defense. Amanda is knowledgeable, extremely professional, and always kept me informed during the process. It was apparent to me that she sincerely cared about the outcome as much as I did and I wasn’t just another case. She fought for me! She was always straightforward with me even if it wasn’t what I wanted to hear yet comforting. The outcome was beyond what I could have hoped for…Amanda was able prevent me from serving any time in prison. Amanda is a terrific person and an amazing attorney. I would recommend her firm to anyone.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Lakewood, Colorado?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
