When you first go into Mr. Merson’s website, you’re greeted by a greeting that says he’s knowledgeable and he knows what he’s doing. But as soon as you get to the court dates and the DAs start putting the heat on him, he buckles. he claims to be knowledgeable in DUIs but is not, I was on probation for my second and I had gotten pulled over for a third. With mandatory jail sentences on both, I had already served one and he let me miss out on a week of my life. I highly recommend going to someone else

Defendant: Juvenile Charge: Careless driving resulting in injury/death Year: 2019-2020 Jurisdiction: The case was removed from Traffic court into County court per the request of victim’s family members. Court: Adams County Experience: Merson was a great communicator who worked collaboratively with numerous persons prior to charges being made. He used proactive defense strategies to ensure the best outcome with no surprises and a fair and just charge. After charges filed he collaborated with the civil counsel, showing a great deal of humility allowing him to reinforce his arguments and defense for our case. Merson was timely, thorough and provided ongoing updates via phone, email and text. He always sent us documents prior to filing so we can look them over. The motions and pleadings paperwork was above and beyond expectations as he took a great deal of time and care to research case law and structure a well thought out defense positions. Throughout our experience we felt that Merson had our child’s best interest in mind. He listened. He never over promised and he was honest with integrity and ethics. Litigation: Our child agreed to the charges and Terms and Conditions. However, we did not agree to the all of the restitution being placed on our child. Merson litigated the restitution for us and showed up strong, eloquent, composed, and impressive with strong defense and case law to support our argument. Fees: His flat rate option for us was more than reasonable and relieved pressure of hourly fees. Result: We believe we ended up with a fair outcome in both the sentencing and restitution. Although I hope to never have the need to work with him again, if a need did arise, I would unequivocally utilize him again and would refer him to any family member.

Jim Merson took my case after the public defender did nothing. Within two weeks, Jim Merson did more that the public defender did in 9 months. I highly recommend Mr. Merson. He is fair on his rates, he is direct and let's you know what is happening in your case. He is as good as they come. He gave me back my life.

I found Jim online and turned out to be the best decision I could have made for my situation. He was very attentive to my case and very knowledgeable in dui law. I was charged with DUI with a very high BAC and Jim was able to get it knocked down to a DWAI. Highly recommended. Was wrongly accused of passing a counterfeit bill retained Mr. Merson as attorney; he not once sugar coated a thing and pointed us in the right direction the entire way. He wasn't looking to put money in his pocket but was more interested in providing the help and solution that was best for our family.

James Merson went above and beyond what I would have expected from a defense attorney. He impressed me through and through with true concern and respect for me and my case. He had fresh ideas on how to approach my case which showed me he was truly giving me the time and consideration that I deserved. I had violated my current probation in California when I was arrested in Colorado for pretty much the same thing so I was a bit nervous, to say the least. I was so concerned about my case that I did a little shopping around and another respected local attorney said I was in good hands with Merson. After a motion to suppress the evidence filed by Merson was granted by the judge, I thought I was in the clear and was celebrating. I thought I won. About a month later Merson calls me to explain the DA appealed the judge's decision to the Colorado Supreme Court. WTF?!?! That can happen?. Well, it can and did. Could I really trust him with years of my life on the line? Is he going to give me the best defense I deserve? Christ this case is for marijuana in CO. My case continued to the state supreme court where Merson and I again felt total confidence that our motion to suppress the evidence would be recognized as correct and upheld at the state level because it was clearly an illegal search. Merson always responded to my calls and texts even though I'm sure I behaved like I was his only case. I still can't believe that only two of the seven State Supreme Court judges agreed with our position. No matter what Merson was ready and willing to continue the fight for me. God, I wanted to but I had to consider a lot, time, being the main thing. I chose to take a plea which continued to be a headache. Let's not forget during this whole proceeding, which took 2 years, I was technically a fugitive from my original probation in California. Merson even called my probation officer and lawyers in California and was able to arrange a deal to terminate my probation in California, unsuccessful of course, but terminated based on, I was going to be Colorado's problem. Colorado was gonna send me to prison, probation, a program or whatever. Making that happen was no joke since I was facing up to 8 years just in Colorado not including what California could have given me. I'm now one year into 5 years of probation and my 90-day jail sentence. James Merson used all of his knowledge and skills to provide the best representation I could possibly have. But truly the best lawyer I could have had. Now he's able to help you with his own practice and trust you want him working for you! I'm eternally grateful to him. Thanks buddy!
